Just joined this club with a Sidekick.  First impressions (after a few days use) are....OK, not fantastic perhaps but better than I was thinking it might be. :tu:

I guess I'm BACK in the club, since I traded away my first Wingman last year, only to pick up one of the combo packs the other day.

Currently, the cost of a Wingman in stores is about $30. I don't think I'd be thrilled with it at that price. I occasionally see them on sale or on-line at more like $20. At that price, they're a decent deal, IMO.

But I got the combo pack at after-Christmas reduced price of $15 for the Wingman and Style CS. That is a frikin' bargain. Even the Wingman by itself at $15 is a good deal. But the Style CS by itself is also worth every bit of $15.

I have them both, i use them for loner tools, not my first choice for EDC. TBH i think they suck, I wish i would of saved the money. No locking tools, nothing worse then a tool folding on you. They are loose and the handles wiggle. For twenty bucks you get what you pay for.

I am however a BIG fan of the wingman, i'm going to try it out with a 'vic farmer' as a double act, and i hold out high hopes.

I'd make some changes, it's not 'perfect' (ie. i'd pay more for better quality) but i do like the toolset , not too much not too little and all the really important bits (for me anyway)

I didn't have my first one very long either. It's part of trying new stuff out. There's only so much budget, so those that aren't absolute keepers may have a short stay. I've got a couple SAKs that I got a few days ago, and think they are already likely to be destined to new homes.

I definitely like the size of them, nice and compact without being dinky.  Not wild about the flattish Phillips though, especially as it folds in a bit too easily. :-\

I started with the Sidekick.  I kept it on me when I was camping and it came in handy quite a bit.  Then as i thought about carrying it more often than just camping, I started to miss the scissors on it.  So I sold it and bought the Wingman.  I find I use the scissors and the package opener the most on the Wingman.  I like it a lot, but I feel a bit more play in the handles than I did with the Sidekick.    I think they were both worth every penny for the price point.

Wingman 2x and Sidekick for me.

The Wingman is a great all around beater. The pocket clip is fantastic. The scissors are great. The outside accessible, OHO blade is pretty good. I don't really like the shape of it, and would prefer if it were a plain edge, but it works well enough.

Probably will pick up another Wingman to steal the scissors from to put in my Wave.

I want a Wingman with the blade from a Sidekick.  What's up with the combo blade on the Wingman?

I feel the same way about pretty much every combo edge TBH. :-\  The good news is that the two blades are simple to change over, IF you buy yourself a Sidekick to steal the plain blade from of course. ;)

I did just that,BUT it seems a shame to end up ruining a 'half decent tool' who would want a sidekick with TWO serrated blades AND a saw ?
mine is still in the clamshell, i couldn't bring myself to do it  (yet  ::)) so i've 'put up with' the combo blade, and it's usable  ::)
I did hit on a new plan tho ~ I have paired my wingman with a 'vic farmer' and it seems to give me a great tool set. saw, awl and a razor sharp plain blade and then the combo OHO blade on the wingman for a bit of 'hacking and slashing'

I'll join now. I had a Wingman in my Amazon Wish List for a few weeks. At $30, not a steal. But it went down to $22, so I bought two. (one for a coworker)

I'm not expecting miracles of quality, compared to my Surge and SwissTool, but hopefully, the drivers are adequate and the joint doesn't get loose too quickly. ;)

Should be here tomorrow.

I'm in though the tool isn't in my hands yet.  I got a Sidekick in a trade with SAKnight, and right now the package is sitting at my store waiting for me to get it tomorrow.  :tu:

They have a spring, just have to make sure the scissors lock into place.

So .... you basically made a Sidekick into a Wingman except that it says "Sidekick" on the side and has a lanyard ring? Those are the only differences, right?

Well the sidekick has a straight edge blade, not the combo like the wingman..so yes it's a sidewing
