Okay home slices I'm in with the wingman. My GF saw it and didn't believe it only cost $25. I read a post about somebody saying the hard wire cutter is poop but from what I can see its not meant to be a hard wire cutter. I really like it and I won't cry if I lose it.
Amen brother. For $25, use it, kill it, and but another one. I'm loving the Wingman so far.

I'm not a fan of the wood saw on the Sidekick.  I'm not a fan of combo edged blades but the one on the Wingman doesn't bother me.  I like the small serrated blade on the Sidekick.  So, I took out the can/bottle opener on the Wingman and replaced it with the small serrated blade from the Sidekick.  It fits great and was extremely easy to do.  I still have an unmodded Wingman for collection purposes though.  I will wait until I can pickup a Sidekick cheaper than what they are going for now.  I agree with the comment about the leather pouch and carabiner that comes with the Sidekick too, they aren't worth $15.

Saw seems to be basically the same functionally from other LM tools. MUT has been the best for me as it is bigger

What do you not like about the saw?

I don't use wood saws on MT's.  They are too small to be practical, for me.  I'm sure others have different opinions.  When I'm out in the great outdoors I take a Sven Saw with me.  I guess in a pinch they could be useful but as far as using one as a primary saw, I wouldn't.  For me, the scissors on the Wingman are much more useful than the small wood saw.

Ok, fair enough.  I just wanted to make sure they hadn't changed them from the other
tools with saws to any great extent.  They are small but I've found cut quite well for
very small tasks I've tackled in the past.

I'll check out your Sven saw and see what it's all about as I carry a Coughlan's folding
saw and just love it when heading out stick hunting. :)

Yeah, I also have a Bahco Laplander folding saw.  I like it as much as the Sven.

I've heard good things from Bahco.  I was going to grab one of their saws but I cut green
wood saplings mostly and they seem to cut faster with very aggressive teeth and the Bahco
I was looking at had more of a finer tooth pattern.

Finally got to big orange and picked up a wingman. It actually edges out the sidekick for me due to
1. The clamshell opener which is a tool i dont have. It works great and sharpens easily.
2. I prefer the scissors to the saw because i already have that covered a few times over.
Wingman is easily the best deal for me. I like the pouch and carabiner but the wingman tool itself seems more useful.

It seems the Sidekick is showing up more and more now.  I was in a small midwest chain called Farm & Fleet and they had one Sidekick for $39.  No Wingman though.  I took the small serrated blade off my Sidekick and swapped the can/bottle opener out on an extra Wingman I got at HD.  I almost bought the Sidekick that I saw today at F & F but figured there will be many more coming, hopefully cheaper.

Despite my previous opinion on the wingman edging out the sidekick on usefulness and value, i did however modify my wingman for edc.

Both of my wingmans have a tiny bit of play in the pliers. It`s barely noticeable, I only picked them up yesterday so I can`t say much besides that.

There was/is a tiny bit of play even when brand new, but it hasn't increased at all, and I used the crap out of my Wingman over the past week.

Ok I'm in  :D I have one of each .Really very impressed with them . A lot better then I thought they would be when I first saw those pics from the shot show .

Powernoodle did mention the scissors on his didn't lock open very well . I've noticed on mine they don't lock open if the scissors jaws are shut . If you open them up as you deploy them then there is no problem . I did find that things have a tendency to slip out of the jaws as your cutting . I'm not sure if this is down to the angle of grind  but they didn't like plastic wire ties  :( Paper and all the usual materials are not a problem though  :)

All in all both tools get the thumbs up from me  :tu: and I'm going to stand the Wave down for a bit and see how I get on with these .

Still so far, so good with my Wingman. I've now purchased six of them. All but one are presents, so I'm not hoarding them or anything. But I am making a decent dent in my local store's supply.  >:D

I didn't think I would, but I bought a Wingman from my local Home Depot a couple of days ago (along with a new door knob and deadbolt, which is why I went to HD in the first place).  The pocket clip is a little loose, but otherwise it's not a bad tool.

My favorite part of the Wingman is that "clam shell opener" pull hook thing. That has a bunch of uses. The only pisser is having to open the tool to get it out. I sharpened mine... Not because it was dull but more to see if it was a pain or not. Give me one of these with an awl on a better tool in place of more screw driver sizes any day.

When we were at the factory tour they mentioned date stamps were going to be put onto both the Sidekick & Wingman. As to when this is going to happen  :think.
