Just picked up a Wingman at Depot. Wow I am impressed for the price. At my Depot, it was only $19 and change. I need scissors, and the ability to open the blade with the tool closed has always been my own personal "multitool litmus test.". Also, the spring on the pliers (which are more heavy duty than I thought they would be) are a great idea. I wish my Charge had them!! Overall happy and impressed.

Anybody have pics of either next to a Juice and/or Wave?
Or next to a Victorinox Spirit?
I wish they had managed to shoehorn scissors AND a saw into one of these new Leathermans.
I could probably live without the saw but would still prefer to have it along with the scissors.

Grabbed a wingman for $20 on black friday from amazon...well worth the money. I do notice one of the needlenose tips is slightly smaller than the other, hopefully it will stand up to some abuse, we'll see, but overall best bang for the buck out there

Picked up the Wingman from Home Depot a couple days ago on an impulse buy. Quite impressive MT for $25. Wasn't really looking for a new MT since I have already found my perfect MT (the Vic SwissTool Spirit) but hey, $25! Anyways, I would like to do some tool swapping with the Sidekick which I'll get just for this customizing project. Does anyone know if the scissors, knives and saw are keyed for left or right attachment? Reason I ask is that I would like to put the saw and scissors on one and the 2 blades on the other... and maybe move around some other tools. Thx in advance.

I'm a bro! I got my Wingman from Home Depot as soon as I heard they were in stock. For some goofy reason, HD had the Wingman tools hidden in the store. I went to the usual spot where they have their LM's on the shelf, and it wasn't there!! I thought, huh.... maybe they haven't got them yet...... but after a little browsing through the store, I found an entire crate set up, filled to the brim with WM tools. I was cheesing so hard when I found it  :2tu:

I'm about to pick up a Sidekick to go along with my Wingman!!!!!!!!!!!
I personally love a saw on an mt...... it works great with making trap snare triggers when you're in the bush.
Gotta have 'em!

I saw a mod on youtube where someone put a prybar where the saw was on a sidekick and put scissors like the fuse has on the inside as well as the eyeglass screwdriver too.  The scissors had to be modified just slightly but it worked.

Glad you like the lanyards I dabble a little with the old para cord stuff still experimenting a lot with different designs on the lanyards those on the Wingman and Sidekick were prototypes and they turned out pretty cool even if I do say so myself.

I like to challenge myself when it come to lanyard making they were an idea I had for a while and they finally turned out just right.

I will keep playing with the para cord and experimenting too.

Just for interest I hardness tested the main blade on my Sidekick - 58HRC. I also tested the main blade on my 1991 PST (back in 91) - 59HRC. Virtually the same. Not bad for an entry level tool.

I think it would have been better if the modder left the clip on the plier side of the tool.  It makes it less likely to open in the pocket.

One decent thing about the Sidekick/Wingman mt's are when you close the tool, it stays closed very well. It's almost like a spring is working against it when you start to open it.
When it's closed, if you open it up a little bit and let it go, the handles will snap back together really fast....... very similar to how the little Micra works when closed :)

I wonder why they left the lanyard ring off the wingman , why just put a washer in its place ?

Yes, that's only natural. Of course, you'll have to get a Wave after that, and a Charge... and a Skeletool for the "lighter" days... oh and a Juice or two, and another couple of Squirts... oh and don't forget to pick up a Fuse and a Mut...

... see ya when your credit card is maxed out... :D

Welcome aboard mate.

I looked for a Wingman at HD but found that they were all gone. Ended up paying $30.00 for one at A. G. Russel's. I had a Skeletool that I lost so the Wingman is my replacement. I think that the Wingman is much more tool for the money. I like the lighter weight of the Skeletool but the Wingman has better pliers and feels better in your hands when you are using the pliers. My only complaint other than the weight is the big flat screwdriver. It is too thick and wide for most screws that I will want it for. This morning I took it out and reground it to a more reasonable size. Tool seems almost perfect now!

I picked up a Wingman at the local HD today.  They had about 14 left.  Very nice tool for the $$.  Wondering why the phillips head screwdriver is flat on one side.  I would have preferred something closer to what's offered in the Juice lineup.  I really did the pocket clip.

The phillips head on mine is the same on both sides. A lot like the phillips head bit on a skeletool. I seems to work real well.

hay guys just wanted to ask a quick question. i got the wingman for my brother in law for xmas. hes really happy with it as its his first quality multi tool. i had a look at it, as any multi tool nut that dont own one would do. and noticed that the pocket clip has alot of movement, and rattles about. he dont seem bothered by it but it would bug the c*ap out of me. should i just tighten it up or will that tighten other tools up also?

is this common with the wingman and sidekick?

cheers

The pocket clip on my Wingman also moves about.  I believe others have mentioned it, and I also seem to remember reading that just tightening the bolt does not eliminate the problem.

That's interesting. I suppose that's the down side of getting a budget tool.
After a closer inspection it looks like it would be possible too bend the part of the clip that goes inside the tool, in a way that pulls it down and limits its movement. I can't fink of a better way to explain it. Does anyone understand what I mean ?
