I hope Leatherman continues to develop this platform. It's a good edc option because it's so easy to carry. The new Free P2 looks interesting but it's a bigger multitool and doesn't have spring action pliers.

I have the Wingman, my least favourite LM. I was attracted by the tool set, scissors, package opener,  and something to keep on my desk or in my pocket around the house. Unfortunately I find it uncomfortable in the hand, flimsy, horrible shape combo blade and hard to open the blade one handed. I still use it while I contemplate a Rebar or a Juice S2, or even one of the new Free series but I was disappointed in it.

Go with the Rebar then, it only takes up slightly more pocket space than the Juice S2, but gives proper size tools, great pliers with replacable wire cutters, it's just a no brainer. The Rebar lacks scissors, while the Juice has them, but as you mentioned in the other thread, you already carry a Micra, so scissors are covered. The Rebar and Micra combo is as close as you can get to a perfect pairing with an incredible amount of different tools for any task or challenge, they complement each other very nicely.

Good advice. In the Made Of Mettle movie Tim Leatherman himself keeps the Rebar on him at home. I use my Wingman daily, it's very handy and I am trying to love it but I am just not feeling it unfortunately.

Hey, does anyone know if the Philips driver will work with the Leatherman Bit adapter that is designed for the square ones?

Really curious about this, because I am hoping the Free series will work with it as well.

Cheers,
HG

Sorry HG, but it will not. I understand that the toolset in Wingman/Sidekick/Rev is the same; I own the Rev and the Removable bit Driver adapter, and it will not fit on the phillips or flat driver without modification. You could file/grind the PH driver's sides (angled, 'til it fits diagonally and snug) though.

No, I can't see the bit adaptor working on the Free either.

Nothing really to add, just reflecting on how much I did like both my Wingman and Sidekick.

Just saying hi! Proud owner of a new Sidekick! First impression is good. It's supposed to be a budget tool and I've been carrying my surge so my expectations wasn't high. But I really like it. Going to put I in the mix and get back when I tried it out more.

I had fairly low expectations of the Sidekick myself, but I was very pleasantly surprised as well.  :)

Am the proud owner of a wingman. We've  been together 2 years and still going strong.  But definately thinking of modding it as i have very little use for the weird box opener thing. Considering switching out the screwdrivers for a bit holder.

I love my Wingman. It has all the toolset I need for urban edc in a lightweight package. Springloaded pliers, decent scissors, package opener, comfortable egonomics, built-in pocket clip. It ticks all my boxes.

Nice one. :)

But, that said, that photo is not of a roamingcat. More like a stationarycat. :D

I actually broke my Wingman and so I sent him for warranty, the locking part for the main blade broke. I actually really missed him when he was gone and I was happy when they sent a new one back, which is actually much better as the main blade comes out much easier so I am not risking hurting myself every time I open it so I am having a much better experience with it now. It will still be my least favourite but at least it gets daily use now and is on me always.

Sprung pliers are nice for a MT.  I appreciated them very much.  While I have moved on from both Wingman/Sidekick they are good tools.  Shame the price went up on these.

Opened my Wingman the other day, SNAP!  Internal flat spring for one of the handles broke.  Handle is now flippy floppy loose.  Sending in for warranty repair/replace.  I don't even use this thing hardly at all. Clearly a heat treat issue with the materials of the spring.

My two Sidekicks are doing just fine.

Leatherman has an excellent warranty. Depending where you are you send it directly to Leatherman or you send it to the distributor in your country.  You have to go on line first and fill out the form requesting warranty repair.

What do they do to the wingmans that give them such a bad rep?

Ive heard very little bad things about the Sidekick (I own one) but so much about the wingman
