Looking at the spec sheet of features for the spirit it says it has a lanyard hole?  Do they just mean the hole where the corkscrew fits in, or is it something better than that?  I'll need to attach a lanyard somehow as that's how I pocket carry.  Knife in pocket with lanyard attached up on belt to bare the weight and hold it vertical in my pocket, with a quick release barrel lock near the knife itself.

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately you guessed correctly Syph, they just mean the corkscrew hole. :-\ It doesn't work so well (for me anyhow) because the hole isn't close enough to one end or the other. :-\

Somewhere around here is a thread where someone attached a fishing swivel & clasp to the corkscrew hole though, and that seemed to work pretty good. :) I'll see if I can find it....

Thanks for the info, appreciated!  I guessed as much.  That's ok I have a large box of clasps and paracord, I'm sure I can come up with something.  Cheers!

I have a Victorinox Accessory the Snap Hook [Ref. 41845] on a length of paracord in my back pocket this clips on to my swisstool corkscrew hole and SAK keyrings :multi:

Ah thats close to what I came up with last night for my full size swisstool with some Type I paracord.  I'll add some pix to show later.

I suppose its a pipe dream to somehow replace a rivet with some type of hollow fastener to allow cord through?  Would drilling a hole dead center through the rivet destroy it, or weaken it too much?

The pin diameter is only 4mm (5/32") as it is. What you are suggesting could be done, but you'd need to be extremely careful. :-\

My spirit X arrived just now!! This thing is awesome!  Way smaller than I pictured and for sure alot of tool power packed in a small package.

Here is what I whipped up quickly just so I can pocket carry it for the rest of the day.  Small type I paracord braid with loop for my standard lanyard.  Doesn't seem to get in the way of anything so I think I am happy with this until I get up the nerve to do a rivet mod and place a better anchor point.

Cheers!

Well my OCD wouldn't let the idea rest, and the way my temporary lanyard was attached was bugging me... so I went for it!

Here's the result.  1/16 inch hole drilled with my trusty drill press.  It was pretty easy once I got it clamped down just right, and worked up the nerve.

Then I ran some wire through...

...in order to grab some type I (gutted) paracord an pull it through.  It did take a fair bit of fiddling but I got it to pull on through.

I didn't get fancy with this part and just finished it with a double fishermans knot.  I wanted minimal bulk here so nothing got in the way of the tools when deployed.

I made up a custom length lanyard for it and I'm quite pleased with the result.  This is how I prefer my lanyards attached.  So with one hand you can pull it out of pocket and the plier tool is pulled open as you pull on the un-lanyarded side.

I strategiclly put the lanyard on the non blade side so that it did not interfere with the blade use.  Worked out just perfect and I'm really glad I went for it.  All the tools function perfectly fine on the side I drilled out, no damage done, and now I am 100% happy with my new spirit.. just needed a little tweak!!!

Well this is now my new EDC, and I plan on putting it through its paces!

I got lucky with the center punch and got it dead center.    :D  Which then made me wonder if there was a proper way I should have used rather than eyeballing the middle.. oh well it worked!  I figured worst case I have to replace the rivet with something else, but I'm really glad it went ok.

that's a brave mod to carry out. I'm wondering though, does drilling a rivet weaken it critically?

I wondered too, but its only a 1.5 mm hole in a 4 mm pin.  All the tools on that side are also ones that are lower torque for me, scissors etc.  Whereas on the other side the knife would have alot more force put on it.  I feel pretty safe with what I did, still feels rock solid.  Best of all though I can carry it the way I want and it makes it my fav EDC.

If the paracord doesn't last too long through the hole I'll have to come up with something nicer, maybe a custom formed D ring with 1.5mm thick heavy wire might work too.
