There is a fancy version of the Lancelot that shows up in catalogs (right). There is also a fancy version of the King Arthur (left) that was reportedly a special run for Sharper Image.

Which photos are you reffering to? Those one with complicated engraving on the scales?
The only difference betwen Gawain and Galahad is that Galahad locks the blade.

Blue one looks pretty interesting by the way, but not that luxury as black ones do :) Nice knife.
Saw red one just ones somewhere on russian knives forum, but never met it on ebay. Must be pretty rare...

I think this is confusion that being brought by Wenger themselves, for example I saw knives that supposed to be King Arthurs, but they had tools set which is completely the same as Lancelot (King Arthur must have wrench). Also some guy here posted Galahad with stag engraved on the bottom, which was never mentioned in any of Wenger's catalog. Probably you were dealing with cheaper model of Merlin, or with specific model for a different market area.

This? It has the same blade configuration as the Galahad, but to the best of my knowledge in not part of the Dynasty series. The logo looks like the one for Hartford Insurance. The Britannia has the same blades as the Gawain. photo #1 The Stag has a lock; the Britannia does not.

There is a fancy version of the Lancelot that shows up in catalogs (right). There is also a fancy version of the King Arthur (left) that was reportedly a special run for Sharper Image. photo #2

I have a blue version of the Gawain, and ICFT has a red version of one of the models.photo #3

Never have managed to pick up a Merlin, so can't comment on that.

Fancy and plain versions of King Arthur (left), and fancy and plain versions of Lancelot (right).

Dynasty Question; the last 3 Merlins that have appeared on ebay all had hot-stamped silvered emblems, but the one SM5K showed here and uploaded to SAKwiki appears to have a white printed emblem.  Does anyone have any information on this, or confirmation?  I have one of the hot-stamped ones, I will photograph as soon as i can.

I checked mine and the emblem is hot stamped (see attachments).
It was, however, very niclely done, and I had to touch it with my finger to check.
I had a look at the pictures by stressmaster, and I believe (my opinion) his model has probably the emblem hot stamped as well and not printed.
I also did look back at the last ebay auction you probably mentioned.
The emblem looks a little different (it seems to have little less details, for example on the helmet above the cross), but it is not easy to see from the auction image.
Perhaps Wenger changed over time the way the emblem was stamped.  ???

Edit: added a comparison image between the Merlin emblem I saw on ebay (left) and mine (right). Sorry for the poor quality but I had to use a lot of zoom.
There is clearly a difference in my opinion.

I made a visit  to a local shop today, and the 2005 dealer's catalog (which I sadly don't own) shows all the three Tactiles.
The shop owner is going to make a copy of this page for me.
Will post when available.

I uploaded on the wiki two single catalog pages.
The first one is from a 2005 European dealers catalog

It shows the all three Tacticle models along with some other interesting stuff like the "Camo" line, which were basically the precursors of the Hardwood series (will update later the wiki with them).

The second page is from a 2006 European dealers catalog

Only the Tacticle 811 is displayed (along with its catalog number).
Since they are not showing up, I think the Tacticles 813 and 812 were probably discontinued from this year.

Edit: Now just when I thought the research on the Tacticles was complete, I realized the Tacticle 812 shown above has the corckscrew instead of the phillips driver..... :ahhh

1st Wenger Dynasty series knife I have in its luxury box. This knife is new old stock I guess. It has some old oil here and there but the case is not stained with it inside. This is the Ivanhoe model.

I had a hard time getting any kind of decent photos of this Wenger Esquire color display. It measures 11 inches x 11 inches and is made of shiny black plastic. The scales are mounted with double sided tape I think.

Nice! Thanks for the pics.

I took a photo of mine with artificial light.  I saw a couple others on ebay that appeared to look similar.  It does appear as if the detail is not as sharp.

Very interesting!

Fancy and plain versions of King Arthur (left), and fancy and plain versions of Lancelot (right).

Looking at ebay completed auctions I just saw that a King Arthur with that elaborate design was recently sold, for quite an high price
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wenger-Delemont-13-Tool-Swiss-Army-Knife-Stainless-Black-w-White-Animal-Design-/400497833588?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d3f87f674&nma=true&si=XqNfY1fu1jzRAhGVfn65g7T071s%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Because of the seller shipping restrictions, I could not even see the auction when it was going on and missed also the Lancelot that was recently sold as well (many thanks to ebay for this "great" feature).

Yes, that was the Lancelot.
With much disappointment I discovered this: if a seller apply a shipping restriction to his auction (let's say, USA only) and if he set an ebay option to not allow bidders from outside USA to place a bid, well that auction will not be displayed on pc's located outside USA.
I suspect this is something related at IP level.
Funny thing is that 98% of the time I ask seller permission to bid, they are always more than happy to ship to my country. But I can't ask if I don't see the auction.
I did find myself a way to "cheat" a little the system (using a different internet browser where I never logged into ebay), but it works only to display auctions from specific sellers, not for general searches.

I have a picture of the Tactile 812 with a corkscrew and the number 1.177.09.812. Also have a picture of the phillips version, but no number. The one I have has the phillips. Wonder if it was a difference between Europe and North America?
I also have the 812 with phillips, but never saw the corckscrew version.
Interesting thing is that the other european catalog page posted on that old EDC auction
http://www.edcsource.com/auction_details.php?name=Drop%20Point%20%20Swiss%20Auction&auction_id=105158
shows the 812 with phillips.
I'm not even sure if the Tactiles were ever imported in North America

It was me, I bought that Lancelot. Sorry, mate :)
But to my knowledge particulary this seller doesn't have any restrictions. More than this, I'm located in Ukraine, country which sellers don't like much harder then Italy, so how come you didn't see this auction while I did? I think to avoid restrictions you should use proxy server. And by the way, how do you explore listings that have ended?

To see listings that have ended on eBay go to advanced search (far right next to the search field and click it. Then type your search words, go down a bit and check the completed listings box, go to the bottom of the page and click search.

That wood scale is pretty.   Most other Wenger wood scales I've seen were butt ugly.

Did you refinish it by chance?  All the pictures on Amazon look ugly like all I have seen, too.

You hit the jackpot.

Nice duo!
I know that the interest is all for the Rangerwood, but I really LOVE the camo pattern of that Hardwood in the background!
Did you find it by chance, or were you able to choose it from a few?

Hey, I'm just glad it went into good hands!
I don't have much experience with proxy servers (and internet settings in general), so I wouldn't know what to do.
But be sure that those Lancelot auction was not showing up for me (luckily for you  :D).
I discovered this on this board.
Few members were discussing about a closed auction (without posting the auction's number or a link), and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't see it

Ranger 55 Wood, 150 Years SAC

(Image removed from quote.)

I decided to "pull the trigger" on the Rangerwood SAC, basically because it is the only Rangerwood model with the one hand opening blade (which I love).
Bought mine here
http://www.webers-world.com/product_info.php?info=p531_RangerWood-161-SAC.html
There are basically two different versions of this knife.
The one I received is exactly as shown in the above link.
The SAC logo is on the front scale, and the balde does not have any markings.
The box is also very similar to the one shown by Martin, has the SAC logo but not the 150 years one.
So apparently there are two SAC versions: one for the 150 years, and one "standard".
Sorry if it was old news, but I just realized this today.
Will post pictures of my Rangerwood 161 soon.
Box label on mine example reads: AF.1.077.161.830.P1.CAS, date 11 2012

Ordered mine direct from SAC (had problems with Weber and no longer deal with them). The handle logo is on the back side, and the blade has the etched logo. The number is AF.1.077.161.830.C. The box has the 150th anniversary logo.
