No daylight so picture is not well, this model do not have a awl but they used the handle scale with the cutout(this is on the 50 models). It is absolutely no problem , the knife is really well put together and the quality just really high.
Thanks.
Yes, agree that it is not a big issue.
It would probably had been too expensive to design a special back scale only for the few models without the awl.

Picked up the Major

Nice, perhaps you could try to polish a little the main blade.
I think I need to upload on the wiki a picture of model 1.23.03.02 which was basically the black color version of this knife.

Yeah it's pretty scratched, have any tricks or thoughts on how to remove them.

I used a small block of wood. First I wrap it with 400 grit, then 600, then 800, then 1000, all wet-and-dry paper, use water. Finish with some 1500 grit Crocus paper, no water this time. Finally some simichrome.
It'll look like new then.
Trouble is, the buffing may become addictive with your other knives.
Same technique works well with plastic scales too. The whole knife gets that burnished, well-loved look.

I have a few here:

Got a few more Pocket ToolChests upstairs too.
I really like the compactness of the 85mm versions, ideally with the Evogrip 18/Vic Hunstsman tool layout.

Hi
my Mike Horn and Wenger 120-mm

Very nice!
I bought myself the red Mike Horn, thanks to the link you provided.
It is a nice looking knife....and would be nicer with the standard no-Evo scales  >:D

I love the evowood Collection. They have a very nice wood handle.

Did you know, that there will be an Collectors Edition available end of this year ?

It is call United Woods 2013 Limited Edition.

see:
http://www.wenger.ch/united-woods-16993

Looks like this was an early leak (intended maybe), but the Wenger page is no longer accessible.

I think this looks GREAT!

It will be another great Christmas if they get this set put together, what a great idea to celebrate their history in Swiss Army Knives.

I just checked & found that their North American site is indeed down but their Swiss site is still in operation. I wonder for how long?

Thanks I could not get the google.com cached page, when I tried it would just give me 404, but I managed to get a nice clean cached page from Bing.

What I was not able to get was any of the cached pages for any of the detail pages; can you get those?  Maybe I'll try again for those from the French google site.

Update: never mind; it is working today.   :drink:

Since it looks like Wenger is not ready to publish all this, I'll just post a teazer.  Looks like the blades will have a special etching for the series.

I honestly don't understand the reason Wenger wanted to include a standard S557 in the set.
OK, it will have the engraving on the blade and it is a kind of flagship for the company, but it is the only model without the wood handles.
A single cellidor knife inside a box with others five wood models, doesn't match the whole idea of "United Wood" so well, in my opinion.
Plus, the cost could had been, without the S557, somehow lower.
I'm attaching an image of the set, for those who missed it

The S557 tho, according to CEO Peter Hug, is their trimmest model that has every Wenger "exclusivity": Packlock, self-locking drivers, "universal" wrench, adjustable pliers, and "springless" scissors.  But yeah, why not wood grips?

This United Woods with the different continent Wood handles looks very interesting! I would like to have a set depending on the cost. It would also be a good idea i feel to be able to buy a knife separate, but this i do not know if possible? The set is just

According to the informations I had, price should be around CHF 590 for the set, but it needs to be confirmed.
That would make around 80 euros/knife.
I wish too that the knives could be available separately, but I doubt.
It would be probably better to wait and see if the prices will drop after some time, like it happened with the Heritage.

Yes we must wait and see, 590 CHF (SwissFrancs) = 477 Euro or 633 USD for the whole set sounds plausible.

I see this set as very collectable and a statement from Wenger on wood handle knives, i would expect the different woods to have different difficulties making them, would be interesting to hear what if they say.

I also doubt individual or separate knives sold, still i believe the Evo or Ranger got much more potential that just only Walnut, i do like them and the "woodgrain" the Swiss love.  Masur Birch would be stunning  :)

You have a good point on the Red handles, they could have done the Swiss Walnut EvoWood for that one.

I guess though this is a celebration of their Swiss Army Knife heritage/legacy so while the wooden handle ones are for their history on 5 different continents I can see it sort of makes sense to include 1 red handled model as well, it's like the base of the tree which grew fruit.

Yes thanks for info, expencive set and to much for now. I know some wood material may be very expencive and also difficult to make/shape. Just a thought

Anyhow my latest Ranger is a 55 with black scales, it is esthetic and very well put together.

And the backsprings on them are very strong. The saw spring also has a bump that "locks" the saw in place when open and makes it much harder to close accidentally on you while using it. :tu: Very good feature.

Any idea about this knife?
Seems like a Cyclist (without the imprint on the front scale), but has the main blade locking and fully serrated.
Did I miss something?
 ???

Edit: with much surprise I found a reference on the web about this knife
http://www.mindspring.com/~schooob/stpatrick.htm
Scroll down to the middle of the page and you will see a catalog picture.
The knife is called "Serrated Cyclist".
Unless someone has additional informations, I guess we have probably a new Cyclist variation here!

OK, Wenger lovers need a bit of info.

When did the Wenger corkscrew change?

The older ones were a bit thicker and the turns were different too.
