the extra belly of the blade is good too.

I do not see any extra belly on my Wenger SI compared with 93 mm Vic alox (Soldier, Farmer, Solo, etc). What is different for the main blade as I see is that the SI has as cons a thinner tang and uglier finished spine and as pros a thicher blade spine towards the middle and tip (especially compared to the current non-Solo Vic blade, which are thinner there).

I'm not a big fan of the Evo scales, but when I saw this I decided to buy as it has an unusual configuration.
I think that the only other "big" Wenger with the watch case opener tool is the Minathor.
I searched the web but haven't found any information about tis knife. Seems like a special run made for Longines.

Superb!  Now if it only it had the small clip point blade there...  good that it doesn't so I won't  more.

Vic '91 on top, Vic' 03 in middle, current Wenger SI bottom:

One more, this time reversed: Wenger SI top, Vic '03 middle, Vic '91 bottom:

Oh, and the rivet ends are nicer on the SI. But that's it. For me the top choice between there 3 shown is the older '91 Vic, no contest there at all.

Maybe the older (and true, i.e. from series issued to the army) S.I.s were better? Don't know since this is my only one.

Neat! I also did some digging and came up blank.

Wouldn't mind having one, but given the price of Longines watches, I suspect its out of my price range.

Thanks both of you!
This knife showed up on ebay Italy few weeks ago.
The seller never mentioned the word "Wenger" or "Swiss Army Knife", but listed it as a commemorative Longines knife (in italian).
I came across the auction by pure luck.
However, there was a lot of competition, and I suspect the other bidders were Longines stuff (rather than SAK) collectors.
By the way, the scales are blue color.

Here's a matrix showing the basic breakdown of 7-blade Wengers.

If someone can get it to show up better, please do so.

Some additional notes on the Wenger 7-blade matrix:

The various tools mentioned below the matrix were left off because their models are fairly straight forward, and trying to include them would overly complicate things.

- with pliers, also phillips and small clip blade, either a Journeyman or Serrated Journeyman
- with scaler and lock, also phillips and small clip, its a Bass. Without the lock its a Trout.
- with the flat phillips and the saw and plain Wenger scales its a Mountain.
- with the flat phillips and scissors and L.L. Bean scales, one of several Bean variants.
- the Fussballer/Soccer, Highlander with Choke Tube, and Deluxe Golf Pro are uniques.

The matrix doesn't include most European data (for lack of), Evos and EvoGrips, and the fact that some of these knives have different handles that result in different names. In the case of the Traveler these probably amount to well over a dozen.

Thanks for the informations!
-------------
As I promised in the "latest SAK" topic, I am attaching few pictures of what I believe is an interesting Teton variant, with corkscrew and a partially serrated main blade.
The knife came with a box which has the catalog number 16484, the same as the 100% Serrated Teton (with phillips).
Of course, we can't know for sure if this was the original box for this knife, but I believe there is a high chance of it.
I'm calling this a Teton variant, but could be as well be an Adventurer's one.

Hi Carlo,

I'd go with 'Teton' since it has the pen blade. I don't have that version of the Teton, but do have the 'Duck'. Both it and the two photos I have all show non-serrated blades.

I have a number of Wengers with full-serrated blades, but the only two with partially serrated blades are a Highlander and Serrated Cascade (which a catalog photo shows as half-serrated). So while uncommon that blade is not unique.

Nice find!  :tu:

Duck and  Serrated Cascade (below).

Reworked the Wenger 7-blade matrix to include more information. Also incorporated ICFT's ideas.

Have no clue how to get rid of the red and green lines, but they don't show up when I print.

Cosmetic Adjustments and converted to image. (image quality does not appear as good in IE as on my original, FireFox is better, but still not the same, downloading may allow better viewing).

ICFT,

Thanks again for cleaning up and posting the matrix.   :tu:

However.... I came up with some more info. If you can add it in, Great! If not, people can write it in on their printed copies.

The scissors/phillips and nail file (1.16.03) is a 'Classic 16'.

The saw/phillips and nail file is a 'Classic 15'.

Both European models and both on the way (along with some other goodies) from Swiss-Knife in Lausanne. My birthday's in January so "Happy Birthday to Me!"

I had to open a sealed package to get a nice picture of this SwissBuck keychain pouch.  I think the SwissBuck scales were one of the best designs that were produced by Wenger.

Porsche Design - Edition-1

This P'3700 is maybe the ultimate version of the Wenger Traveler.  I feel I got one of my holy-grail SAKs with this one.  This has been the most difficult knife to photograph, I'm still not happy with the photos, but I've spent so much time on them I need a rest until I can set up some better lighting.  While all the tools are black powder coated, they still can have quite a reflection and they have some amount of defraction as well at the right angles.

A real Beauty!
