Sure, but it was too expensive and I shouldn't have bought it ^^

BTW, does anybody know why Wenger used a clip point blade on this model ?
It makes it look a little more aggressive than a standard SAK

This Deluxe Backpacker just arrived.  Took a chance and bid on a bad pic.  This thing looks pretty much new.   Also came with another 5 layer, unsure of the name at the moment but maybe the Young Fisherman?

This Deluxe Backpacker will have to be another exception in the Corkscrew empire.  :D

The bottom knife was sold as a Sierra with a backpacker on the handle.  (#16985). With a plain handle it was sold as the Outdoorsman (#16993/1 27 63). With a cartoon fisherman it was sold as the Young Fisherman (?)

That's interesting, I didn't know Wenger did autos/gravity knives.  I have a Grilon version of the little knife in the top right-hand corner, but most of those I haven't even seen before.

Never knew such a model existed , i would love a couple of those but i think they are illegal to import here so i must resist looking for one, would love to see more pictures though  :tu:
The three headed stamp is interesting too, i saw one on a Tahara a while back, any details on it?

Here are my oldest 3 Wengers and one of them isn't even a Wenger but i will include it in here till i learn better, stamped "Coutellerie Suisse" which i gather has some connection to Wenger in the early days  ???

Hello wengercollektor

nice collection!

My understanding of Coutellerie Suisse is that it was a company that was absorbed into Wenger in 1908, the three headed tang stamp originated from Coutellerie Suisse and Wenger continued to use it, and variations of it for a few years. My own C/S knife sadly does not have this stamp.

Wengercollectors gravity switchblades are also interesting in that the design seems to lead us to the USA in the 1880's, Civil war Vet Captain Heysinger held the patents and yet here we see the 3 headed tang stamp again? So it can only be that either they used Swiss blades, or a Swiss company (Wenger?) had manufacturing rights here.

If you have any more information or corrections please share  :tu:

Oh, nice knife btw  :like:

The patent of this switchblade knife was the nr 307767 from november 11th 1884.

Could it be that the patent expired until 1907 when wenger startet using the 3 headed logo? You don`t find these knives with the wenger blades in the US, but in western europe.
