to answer your question...I have swiss army knives including wenger that go back to pre 1908 when they were "coutellerie suisse".  if you want some additional info about how to identify the age of any particular knife, feel free to email me d.arnold.gmg@gmail.com
the black wenger is from approx 1910 to about 1920.  Hobie talks about it in his video but we know this because of a few things like 1) carbon steel blades and tools 2) no cap lifter 3) the tang stamp and 4) birdseye rivets

My latest Wenger. Buy it with out scales. Now I try to restore it.
As I know Tahara were issued from 1910 to 1949.

So, I guess all of Wenger's more specialty/rarely used tools didn't carry over (which is almost countless)? I'd love for them to make a Delemont version of the Swiss Sportsman with its flat Phillips. Wenger's serrated "double hook" can openers always get stuck for me.
