Wow! I am so unfamiliar with those old Wengers that if I saw one on ebay I wouldn't know what it was.
Cool collection!

The crossbow emblem is pretty badass!

Just catching up with this thread after a little while

Great posts - Bur particularly from Sakwakky - Thanks so much for those and welcome to the forum   :D

Watched a couple of Hobie videos - Fantastic
- I think I had seen one of his vids before - really nice - he has a lovely way about him   :tu: And so informative

Yep you gotta love Wenger - I miss them  !
I knew about lots of their modern inovations - But I never knew about the older ones -
Eg They invented the SD/CO and were the first to use stainless steel in a SAK! - Wow

It's funny - You think you know a bit about SAKs, then you see a Hobie video, or a post from JazzBass, or Coloswiss (RIP), or SAK Guy, or Sakwakky, and many others here on the forum, and you realise you know nothing!!
Certainly my knowledge, and indeed even that in SAKWiki - Is pretty good after say 1950 - But before that, it's pretty non existent.
And of course the older time period is the really cool intersting stuff - So these posts, videos etc etc are really appreciated

Thanks again for all the posts folks

What I really appreciate about Wenger is the wide variety of weird tools that could be gotten. I mean, Victorinox did an "inline skate" knife, which was just a normal knife with some fancy scales and a separate special tool. Wenger went all out, and created a one-off knife with a removable wrench and an allen driver on the backspring, with a snap shackle and screwdriver. There are lots of cool designs like that. Footballer came with a cleat wrench. Victorinox never did cool stuff like that.

But what I like most in day-to-day usage is the few Wengers that came with clip-point blades. (Swiss Bucks, mostly) For some reason, I just find them a lot more pleasant to use than the regular blade. I also really dig Wenger's blade locking mechanism.

Charles.

While I generally consider myself a Vic/LM fan, I do like the 1, 2 and even 3 layer Wenger's.  Just a nice size, and I like that the back springs are all flush and smooth.  Combine that with a phillips, and you have a tool that's a delight in the hand.
Here's one of my favorites: a Highlander.

Wengers rock!

I’d forgotten I had these, and stumbled upon them this evening. I got them at a job lot store, years back, for something like $5.00 each. At that price, I couldn’t pass them up. One is your basic Handyman. The other is a plain edge Safari with locking blade. The Safari pretty sweet.

My first ever knife was a Wenger Evo s10, so I have a lot of love for Wenger. It was very unfortunate when their knives were discontinued. At least there's Victorinox's Delémont collection, which has a lot of Wenger's designs.

I was at my brothers house and was looking at a Wenger Zermatt I gave him, I noticed the main blade and pen blade springs are not very good, especially the main blade which seems to have some sort of moving cam on the pivot on the scale side(which sometimes moves and sometimes doesn' when opening and closing blade)

But the snap is just poor and really need to give it a push to close it and rocks a bit when open, anything I can do to make it better? To be honest I don't think he cares too much, not a knife nut like us, but I gave as a present and the action is extremely crappy, I doubt he has even used it in the years since I gave it to him, only thing I can think of is maybe it was dropped, but I cant seem to figure out what is going on without taking it apart, and since its discontinued not even sure Vic can do anything or would since it's a Wenger, but it was pretty much new when I gave it to him.
