well my opinion is if wenger was always shown on Macgyver i think it would have the reputation vic has. Wenger wasnt really used that much in the series.

Here's a selection of Wenger imprints. Most of these are unique to a certain model. However note the two different models using the duck in photo 1. The fishing lure has been used a number of times. The ones in the bottom shot are modern stylized versions mainly found on the Evos.

Very nice Karl!
I also have the two Duck variations.
Do you have any reference about the bigger Duck?
I bought it from Felinevet a while back, but was not able to find any reference or catalog number for it.

Does anybody share my fascination with the Wenger sports models (Skier, Soccer, Snowboard, Shredder, Mountain Bike, Biker, Pocket Mountain Bike, Rollerblader, etc)?

So many specialty tools. Some of them aren't that practical. But for a gadget freak ... pretty cool. I want a Shredder and a Mountain Bike or Evo Biker 37. You never find reviews of these, however. These models may, in fact, be evidence of Wenger's over specialization here. I guess.

I couldn't agree with you more on every point. I think that is part of the appeal for me, the uniqueness of the toolset that each one provides. I recently aquired a Shredder and am looking forward to seeing if it would be a great tool to include in my bow case :))

interesting question, i have not come across them yet or one or two models would have been in the collection.  :) this a part i fear will dissapear in the future, it is understandable since they have to make business, they will probarbly see more into the future a collectable status , can not say for sure,

Carlo,

The larger Duck has a US model number of 16957. On the other hand I don't have any info on the small Duck. Do you know its correct name and number?

Thanks,
Karl

I've fallen for my new S14; great little SAK!

I've got four more on my want list now, an S557, S52, and some flavor of an S16 and S17.

I just can't decide which I should get first!   :ahhh

Here's an unusual Wenger, labeled 'Ski Tour'. Somewhat similar to a 'Nomad', but a pliers instead of a scissors, nail file instead of a pen blade, and no lock. Came in a box for another model, so no other info on it. Looks like a pretty useful combination.

After much looking through the ebay "completed" auction search menu, I was able to find the auction
Auction is: 140898555927
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Swiss-Arm-Knives-Lot-/140898555927?
Seems to me the horse was made by the factory.
Hope Karl will know something.

I have a 'Horse' in near-mint condition, but have no info on it. Don't know if that's its name, or what its model number is.

Hey,
I was looking again at the picture from the ebay auction I linked above, and I guess we have the name and catalog number for the "horse"!!!!!
On the box is written "Mustang" catalog number 16952, if I did read correctly.
Sorry, I didn't notice this before!

Following is the box from the auction's image cropped and rotated

For years I've owned exactly one Wenger, an Esquire (Realtree camo) that was given to me. This week I've bought five Wengers, as follows: SI, Tradesman, Viking, Golf Pro, and another Esquire. Today the latter four came (a couple lots of NTSA seizures cheap on eBay). This was my first experience with 85mm Wengers.

First, the good. The Tradesman is a really interesting alternative to my Deluxe Tinker, with (IMHO) better pliers, an interesting scissors spring alternative, and an easier to carry size.

I also like how the keychain ring has a little chain.

I was less impressed with the Viking and Golf Pro. Both had loose pivots on the side with the cap lifter/flat screwdriver. I took off the scales and pinged the pivot rod ends with a small hammer.

I knew both knives were pretty heavily used and everything. Yet I've bought many Victorinox's in similar used condition and have never had to tighten the pivot rods like that. The Viking needed the same treatment. Fixing both of them was no big effort. But it's a little disconcerting. I also found the main blade on the Viking tends to hit the small blade when it's closed. Seems to be a little design issue. Also, no toothpick or tweezers on the Viking ..... seems a bit cheap.

The Golf Pro is an interesting piece of kit. I have the Vic Golfer as well. The Golf Pro is less useful (no scissors or screwdriver, and no "Plus" tools) but kind of fun. I don't even play golf, btw.

I have to say that overall, these 85mm Wengers don't impress me as matching Victorinox quality. I have not tried the Evo series yet, which represents more contemporary Wenger. I thought the SI was equal to Victorinox quality. So perhaps the newer models are as well.

I tried the Wenger scissors and pliers for the first time. Springs are a little weaker then Vic.
The reverse movement takes getting used to. Looks like a strong construction.
But I like the Vic better in action/performance then Wenger.
It's nice you can adjust the Wenger pliers, but for finer tasks like pulling a splinter it is really ackward.
The small Vic pliers still rule for me, better gripping, preciser to operate.

ColoSwiss, Thanks for the image of the great condition Mustang.  I used this image for the SAKwiki page on this knife.  Boy whoever won that auction on the 23rd got one heck of a deal.

Guys check this rare Wenger knife that is for sell in Ebay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wenger-Wood-Jr-Swiss-Army-Knife-Complete-in-box-w-papers-Discontinued-Model-New-/130851625636?pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item1e775d5aa4

I have never seeing it before.
From the tools i can see (and the box), is a genuine Wenger knife.
Too bad the seller doesn't send to Europe. >:(
