Very nice pictures!
I had not been a great fan of the wood scales (just because of personal taste), but I have always loved the contrast between the red shield and the wood around it.

Nice photos of the SAC Ranger, I've been thinking about getting the new SAC knives, just trying to fit them into an order.

I recently got a pretty nice vintage Vic Cracked Ice scaled knife, and then a Wenger one pops up.

Again this older Wenger 82mm is very good quality.  Still tight and great snap, solid thick nickel-silver liners and spacer, and it looks to have a forged and hand worked corkscrew that is only partially polished on the outer edges, but lots of machining marks. Small clippoint is also stamped Wenger Tahara, but the scales unfortunately have started to warp in a few places which is typical for this material.  Love the crossbow shield which we've seen on a few older wengers, it is well inlayed on this example.

Nice finds!

My latest Wenger is the Evolution 18, also i sad it would be some months until the next fixed knife :) Been much fishing but i had fun again making a handle.

This handle took time, i had picked some wood in the nature. Its been dried, i had a Martiinii blade from the 80s( i guess). This blade was in rough shape, the metal bolster part may be as much as 80 years old and made by a special People. I used a part from a very damaged knife, so now it is a sturdy camping knife. Did fit wood inside the bolster.

Had the wood to rest some before the final sanding and Danish oil.

Northman; Super job on that handle and restoring the old knife andf retaining the special bolser.  It looks really nice.

Vic7K, that's a great find, looks like they are using up some left over pieces withe that blade from the Alinghi and that marine driver.  Looks like Wenger is starting to run out of some parts already, or at least no more for production, don't know if they plan to save some for repairs.

This looks like a crossbreed of teh 120 and 130 mm Wengers.
Did you buy this knife recently as a new one or has it maybe been made in teh transition phase between old and new Rangers?

And, does this knife hint us taht old and new Ranger parts are mixable?

I bought it recently new, but on the box it says 03/2011, so I think it was produced in March 2011.
I suppose it was made to use up old Ranger parts and to reduce the stock of some older parts.

Wenger likes orange!  Maybe that's why we don't see too many Vics in orange.

Nice pictures!
Yes Wenger likes orange, but unfortunately only few models are available in this color (and only in Europe, as far as I can tell).
I really like this color and I prefer it over the Yellow in the RangerGrip configuration.
Is your RangerGrip the model 79 (with saw) or 61 (without)?
As for the pink...well, it would be interesting to know at which consumer market they were aiming, as I don't see the possibility of many ladies using such a big knife.

How do you like the Evo scales? The 17/18 Wenger are one of my favorite SAKs but I never could get on with the Evo scales. I prefer the classic slim scales of the Forester/Handyman better. Also while it's nice to have the lock, it kind of hinders the access to the scissors.  :-\

my only complaint on the scales is that they are not made of carbon fiber.;-)

And yes, the lock partially blocks scissors access.
