looks like two idiots in a bidding war.
I remember ages ago seeing Nutnfancy talking about cadets when the coloured ones came out. He advised people to buy them at target whilst they were there, because they would be collectible one day. His prophesy has come to pass.

These have been coming up rather regularly for a fraction of that so I wonder why one of them doesn't wait for the next one. Oh well.........

The 2nd highest bidder in that auction should send me a message, I have one for them at a significant discount from their last bid.

If it was not so crazy a price it would make me feel better about what I had to pay for the last 'rare' one I picked up on ebay.

If I didn't know the seller I might suspect a shill bidder involved to drive the price up against foolish second bidder.

Looks like a new guy going alox happy to be honest. Same guy won a bunch of other alox auctions.

Since I started tracking eBay auction sales two years ago, this is the second most expensive single knife that has sold - just $30 shy of the record held by the $690 1973 Soldier. Unreal. More stats: since July of this year, there have been 24 Gunmetal Cadets sold on eBay. Average price? $75.

I paid $12 for a NIB gunmetal several years ago at a flea market. Wall Street can't beat that gain.

If someone needs to complete their Cadet collection I have one mint in box, and $300 takes it.

Funny thing is I was watching that cadet. $34 bucks is the last time I looked. I was tempted to bid but at 600+ I'm glad I passed.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Wow, sold for $660. That's incredible. That seller is one happy camper today. I sold an old space model kit on eBay the other day, hoping to get maybe $15 for it. I was happily surprised when it went for $80.

Imagine what a NIB Copper Cadet would go for if a gunmetal went for $660? :ahhh  I'm pretty sure the Copper Cadet is the only color I don't have and it appears that I never will.     Anyone have the official list of colors the Cadet has been produced in?  I've got the following:

Silver
Red
Black
Gunmetal
Hunter Green
Autumn Orange
Bright Orange

No Copper.

Yeah, I also have the olive green. I missed it in my collection.  I wonder why they never produced one in the bright blue like the Farmer

Yeah, I saw that.  The key word on that is "Used".  Since it would be to finish off my collection it would have to be NIB.  I have patience, one day I'll stumble across one for sale by someone that doesn't know how much it is worth.   :D

You should get it fast
7 hours left .. And its just 30 dollars
If its for colliction why do you want it to be NIB ??!!
The marks gives it more caracter .. And you are not going to use it

Character Schmaracter  :D  If I'm buying an SAK for my collection, I want it in New condition.  Someone else's character doesn't have any meaning to me.

Well its not new but darn near!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=290624430780

It's probably because of the coloring in the picture, because we all know eBay sellers never exaggerate  :D, but it looks more like Autumn Orange than Copper.

Hi everyone,
I am the very fortunate seller of that gunmetal cadet the other week. I just wanted to assure everyone that the auction was completely legitimate. Buyer paid quickly and I threw in an unopened silver cadet to show my gratitude.  The price was well above my the market average of course but apparently he really needed that gunmetal cadet to compete his collection. We all know the feeling of overpaying for a particular sak that we really, really want:)

On the other hand, the used copper cadet I was selling at the same time went for only $65. It looks like the copper cadet supply has finally caught up with the demand.
Cheers,
sak.collector

Welcome sak.collector. Every once in awhile we will see this kind of anomaly (disturbance in the Force) in bidding. I am happy for you but it sure shows a lack of skill on the buyers part since, with a little research he could have gotten one before or since for $65. - $75.
