Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
on: January 05, 2008, 02:15:30 AM
I caught most of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon the other night. Pretty cool movie. I'm looking forward to seeing the whole thing when it comes on again. The martial arts, the women, the action... all pretty nice.  :)  Anyone catch this flick?

I saw it in the theatre when it first came out.  Both my wife and I enjoyed it greatly, which is a surprise because she isn't a fan of subtitles.

I didn't know it was a foreign-speaking film!  :o The version I saw on cable everyone was speaking English. I knew it was a voice-over movie but figured they made it like that. Man, if it was all subtitles I don't think I would've enjoyed it nowhere near as much.

Great film, one of my favourites. I actually prefer the subtitled version personally. I think dubbing loses some of the inflection in the speech, and the translation is a bit off too (had a Cantonese speaking girlfriend ;)). Horses for courses though.

I like to get the dubbing and subtitles going at the same time, Oh the Larfs we have.

I'm a, err, what do they call oriental martial arts movies?, whatever it is, I'm a fan.

I'm not a big Chow Yun Fat fan, but his girlfriend and Dark Cloud more than make up for it.

If you like Kung Fu Hustle... you should check out Shaolin Soccer too...  it's pretty entertaining :)

Great news! There will be a truly fantastic sequel named Coughing Tiger, Hiccup Dragon in 30 years. After all, all great swordsmen get old, don't they?
