SAK and SwissTool Scissors
on: January 05, 2008, 04:53:57 AM
I am dissapointed in the scissors on my Swisstool X or my SAK's. They do not cut paracord cleanly while the new LM scissors cut it cleanly and precisely..

Yup. Paracord and other slick cord/ties seem to "slip" on the scissors blade on a Vic.  My technique is to cut slowly, so as to enable the scissor blades to bite the cord first, then complete the cut. =)

Have you tried a sharpening system like the Sharpmaker?

I've only used it on my beat down Micra but the brown stones gave it a nice toothy edge that cut better than the fine edge of the white stones.

The scissors I tried to cut it with were brand new!

I quite like the swisstool scissors.  I find they work quite well.  Mind you, I have never cut paracord with them, I'd probably just use the knife.

Have to agree with Benner , if I was going to cut paracord I'd use a knife , after all thats what its there for . Scissors are for paper , card , string, trimming bandages and cutting toenails  :D

Whats funny is that on my signature SAK the small scissors cut the cord precisely!

I have to agree.  I would never cut cord with scissors, regardless of how good they were.
