hi, great forum. 1st post. recently got into the multitool thing and went nuts. so far have a LM blast, LM charge TTi, LM charge AL, swisstool RS, swisstool standard, swisstool spirit (got today:)) and a sog eod. anyways, what would/do you guys add bit wise to the swisstool bit ratchet. i have 4 spaces and don't know what would be the most useful in the U.S. for bits. thanks for any help.

most useful in the U.S. for bits.

In the U.S of A. - I've got no idea.

Given my druthers I'd go for a #3 Phillips, 4mm Hex/Allen, and either a 2.5 or 6mm Hex/Allen.

I suppose, being a yank, and thus living in the dark ages when it comes to fastenings, that 4mm would be a 5/32 or somesuchorother.

First off, welcome to the forum, and remember that the staff and management of Multitool.org are not responsible for excessive wallet depletion!

In answer to your question about what bits to carry, remember that most of the tools you have are covered for phillips and flathead screws, so you might want to concentrate on other popular styles like Torx heads, or if you are in certain areas near the border, Robertson bits.  Unfortunately while Torx and Robertson screws are resistant to stripping they have less tolerance for the wrong sized driver so you may want to either consider several sizes of whichever one you are most likely to encounter rather than one of each "just in case."

Well, I am a Leatherman guy. But I do like the competition. I carry one bit card with all the flatheads, philips, and Torx bits that come with the LM bit kit!

Howdy Snowman!

Re Bits: maybe Allen, maybe Torx, maybe square Robertsons....it depends on where you live and what you do.  :)

So where do you live and what do you do?

Jail guard.

I worked in Toronto area jails for a few years.

So, with work use out of the way, what kinds of hobbies have you got that might benefit from a multitool?

I have added Robertson #1 and #2 (I live in Canada...) and Phillips #2, even though there is one built into the Spirit.

BTW, To all you Michiganders, good luck with Rich Rodriguez as the new coach at UM...he raised a big enough stink in West Virginia in the way and timing he left WVU.

That would probably be my selection as well.
