Even If You Tell What You're Giving Chako It'll Still Be A Surprise Cause We're Randomizing It Through Mail And No One Will Know Exactly What They Are Getting.
We'll Know What You're Giving But We'll Never Know Who's We're Getting, Until We Get It.

I think mystery gifts are way cool, so is generosity. But the spirit of this pool seems to be more about just being thankful for whatever you receive and less about everyone getting excited about who gets the 1 or 2 "best" scores. To me at least. I think its a shame that the very commendable spirit of this exchange might not be fun enough.

I couldn't agree more.  If folks want to make suggestions, that's one things.  If folks want to make demands, then maybe they should run the Christmas Pool next year.

Actually that's what the Christmas spirit is about. Giving not receiving. I think if the people exchanging on this thread was aware of the that fact they would not have joined. It's just nice to see so many people willing to freely part with knives, tools, or whatever they have just for the spirit of things.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

I also agree  :salute: Don't think anyone was demanding changes though. I was just expressing my thoughts on the concept not the orgainser  :tu:

At the same time is it really that big of a deal if someone doesn't list their gift? Rules are rules but then it is Multitool.org after all  8) :salute:

Please post your tool with pic or description and let's keep it nice. No super expensive models or hard to find items unless you really want to, but no guarantees that you will get equally valued item in return. So let's get this going.
We all read it and went along with it. I'd be very happy to receive any item from this pool :salute:

I'm proud to be a part of a community that can have a disagreement like this(and all forums do) and have it end in a very civil manner.  It's a testament to the quality of MT.o.  That and our Mods allow threads to actually develop instead of squashing them at the slightest hint of conflict.  It makes for a much more interesting read!

Could a mod or the next poster change 30 - 5hif7y (Shipping?) to internationally. He stated he'd be ready to ship internationally some time ago but no one changed his listing.

badwolf was kind enough to fill me in on international shipping so you can put me down as will ship internationally.

Hi all US MTO buddies what I have found helps get the MTs thru our customs/postal system is the describe it as a used cycle tool, gift mark it, value it at $35 or less then us Brits don't get stung for any import duties or tax which woudl be so wrong at this time of year !
Marking the customs label like this also stops any one getting to interested in what is inside the package, a buddy I trade with in Maryland, US alway's send the LM MTs in the pliers position and describes them as pliers works like a dream.

Bladed tools are not illegal to own you just need a very good reason for carrying any with locking blades on the street in the UK but your welcome to own as many as you like.
I rotate my whole collection of LM MTs I just don't advertise what I am carrying to the general public a lot of my MTs are used inmy role as Scout leader and I have never ever been stopped while carrying a pouched tool on my belt at any public march or parade same for the scouts of knife carrying age.

Some cops do show common sense sometime's lol 8)
I love my leatherman tools like I love my lady an kids !
I just have a few more of them then the wife and kids lol :-)

Yes, why stick to the rules when you're worth is obviously above them:)

Well yes, particular as this ends tomorrow, all those taking part have. Kinda sounds like saying Chako's stuffs better, I don't think anyone will miss out  NOTE, I am just stating my opinion and in no way mean to offend, cause upset or unnecessary argument :salute:

Thanks to Steve for organising :tu: :salute:

My point was it was shame to exclude someone for 'bending' what seemed to be an insignificant rule. Originally we were keeping US people together and everyone else apart; thankfully that changed  :tu:

If a rule excludes someone from joining in then I'm not sure the rule is ideal. Again is it really that big deal? Chako loses out from joining; is that fair?

Must we all be sheep ?

Anyway, looking forward to see what everyone gets. Wait a minute we all ready know j/k  :P

Seriously it is a great idea and a great way to share some Christmas spirit  :drink:

As Sean said it is great to be part of a community where we can have such discussions without be squashed  :salute:

Thanks Def et al

 :o :o

Are you suggesting we break HM Revenue & Customs rules?

Kidding  :D Good advice for anyone new to shipping to the UK  :tu: TBH it should be fine as it will legitimaley be a gift and should fall within the limit; good call though  :salute:

Being vague with your description will help. If you write 'Shiny new expensive Leatherman' it may not arrive  :-\ [suspicious]'Camping tool'[/suspicious] is always good

I also always mark value as zero any more. As a gift shouldn't have a value IMHO. :salute: :)

True; I always wonder about the value should I need to make a claim

In the UK you can claim up to 40 times the postage paid, even intl as far as I'm aware. That's just regular Airmail package. Is it the same in the US?

Good thread here for writing addresses properly as some places can be picky  ::)
