I need recommendations for my second fountain pen!  :D :pok:

Two requirements:
Under 30 Euros(still figuring out what I like) and needs to have an extra fine nib available(or fine, if the manufacturer is Japanese, like Pilot).
Short length is nice by the way.

Heres what I looked at:

Kaweco Liliput with EF nib: Love the size, but too expensive for now.

Kaweco Classic Sport with EF nib: Seems like a good choice, but on the fence about the cap shape.

Pilot Metropolitan with Fine nib: Makes the thinnest line of anything I looked at.  :o
Brass body is cool, nevermind the lack of shortness.

Pilot 78g: Same nibs as metropolitan, and effectively a cheaper plastic metropolitan, so don't see the point of it.

Parker Jotter: Does not seem to have an EF nib option.

So thats about it. Can you help me choose from the list, and/or suggest other pens?  :pok:

Look at Rotring Art Pen collection. You can get several nibs for the pen.

I usually carry a Staedtler Mars Micro mechanical pencil in my pocket. I find it to be more practical than a pen, even though it can't be used to sign any documents, but I don't usually sign any documents anyway, so.

I've been using a Uni Kuru Toga mechanical pencil for the last few months - this has a mechanism that rotates the lead every time you lift off the paper to stop the point from turning into a chisel tip.  I don't like the amount of axial movement in the lead though - I don't lift the tip very far from the paper and it drags as I move from letter to letter.  I've just switched back to my old Rotring Rapid Pro mechanical pencil with 0.7mm lead and it's much nicer to write with.

I write so seldom that I find it difficult writing more than the date and my signature.

I've noticed for several years that if I suddenly have to write more than the above mentioned, my hand is stupid and my writing which was always bad, gets even worse.....almost spastic

This goes away after a few minutes of practice....

Not planning on writing much in the near future, but I did have to use a pen to sign in at a security checkpoint recently......using a pen I would rather not have touched.

I have a ball point knocking around in the glovebox, but I think I'm old enough to carry off the pen in the pocket look

I've seen some really nice Titanium numbers on the youtubes, but nothing available locally and I'm not looking to spend much.

My plan is simple: Parker Jotter like my dad and everybody else used......simple, cheap and can be used to stab an attacker in the eye if needed....  :mn:

Found this recently: a pencil cap with a little more to it than meets the eye. It's a pencil cap + pencil sharpener + shavings receptacle. Very handy when you need to sharpen your pencil and have no place to put the shavings on. You can sharpen your pencil and throw the shavings away later.

It also helps to hold smaller pencils, allowing you to use your pencils until they are almost gone, avoiding waste.

When you are not using your pencil, it serves as a cap and protects the tip from breaking/sticking in your pocket while allowing you to clip it to a pocket or in a briefcase.

Very pleased with it.

Update on the pencil cap use. Despite the pencil being reduced to a very small size, I can still use it confortably, thanks to the cap. It adds some length to it and awlso provides some stability, due to shape and weight.

Neat idea.  I used to love writing with pencils.  Once I got my first mechanical pencil I stopped using regular ones.

Yup, those give you more consistency, the "pencil" awlways stays the same size/weight. I prefer 0.5mm tips (0.7mm at most), so as not to see any difference when writing for awhile. With thicker tips (1mm+), as soon as you start writing, the tip starts to get bigger and the lines get thicker. You have to keep sharpening them.

I like traditional pencils because of the feel, smell and awl the sharpening ritual. I love the sound of the wood getting shaved and seeing the thin shavings. I used to play with them, pretending to be indian feather headpieces for small toy figures.

.5mm for me too.  I'm old enough to have had the mechanical sharpeners in grade school.  You had to raise your hand to ask to sharpen your pencil.  I recall the smell of the graphite and wood.  I also liked to just get out of my seat.

I carry a Zebra M301 .5mm.  Its been a flawless pencil for me.  While I don't write as much I do like to have a pencil.  My preferred writing instrument is my Zebra F701.

I don't recall posting this mechanical pencil before.  Too lazy to look to see.  Its a Cross Century Gold Filled.  I tried to recall when I got it but the best I can come up with is mid to late 80s.  I remember feeling so fancy using it.  I never actually looked closer at the end where the black cap is.  Its say 1/20 10k gold filled.  I didn't have lead for it but I did locate a mechanical pencil with the correct ones ( .7mm ) so now I have a working pencil.   :woohoo:

The Century’s are great, but I find them a bit too slippery for prolonged use :tu:

These are my most commonly used pencils. Can’t find my P203 anywhere (I’ll find it right after posting this).

Lol you’ve looked at it, so the lead has snapped! Good for construction lines or fine detail though.

And the Kaweco is brass so Iis very solid

.3 would make a nice sketch/drawing size.  I'd imagine the lines would be thread thin.  Amazing detail could be had with such a thin lead.  I do like .5 myself tho .7 is probably "better" for all around use.

Yeah, .3 you look at it and it snaps! Lol, but so great for detail, that’s what I used to use for drafting way back, other kids were using wood pencils, having to continually sharpen them to add a little detail, or others doing the rotate as you draw the line trick, but with a .3 forget it, just draw, but with very little force, basically just let the weight of the pencil do the work..
