I went down to S-mart today to find one of these kits. A housewares clerk named Ash said they were plumb out. I bought a chainsaw instead.

Shop smart. Shop S-mart!

My 7 yr old boy came up to me one day out of the blue and said: "dad, there's smart and then there's k-mart smart"... It was something between cute and disturbing

In another few years this type of kit might be as uncommon as jumper cables

$350 apparently gets you a lot of budget-level knives and machetes......

I like the the oh-so-obvious product placement of this in the Walking Dead. Boy finds kit..shows everyone. Glenn saves his babe by using a machete from the kit.

You can clearly see the Gerber name on the blade..it's like the director said no no..hold it this way so we get paid.

According to link, the Apocalypse Kit is no longer available (but you can still buy each piece individually and make your own kit).
