Please help identify this 84mm (Maybe a mod?)
on: December 07, 2011, 04:37:36 AM
I watch ebay for 84mm scissors, putting bids here and there if they're cheap enough, and hoping I win something someday.. I finally did today, but it has me stumped. Any clue what this is?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/350511185614

Seller claims it's 84mm, and he's usually reliable. It's a 2-layer knife with:
Victoria large/small blade(clip point blade or something else? not a combo tool, for sure) with grooved corkscrew
scissors with long nail file back

A golfer would have a combo tool instead of the small blade, and a climber small would have the opener layer. Is this something I've never heard of? Or a mod someone else put together with some rare parts?

I've tried searching various sites around the net.. sakwiki, smartknives, here on multitool.org, and a few others, with no luck.

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!
Computer trouble? PM me and I'll see what I can do!

I have a picture of it my notes, but no other data. Looks a little rough, but $15 for anything with a long manicure blade is a major bargain. Great score! :tu:

I had that one on my watch list :)

I guess you could call it a predecessor of the Golfer. Back in the day they made several models with a small clip point blade and the long nail file.
I should have the model no. somewhere, let me check :)

Technically it's called a 244k. Most collectors would call it a long file Golfer. This is a late 60s/early 70s model, so it predates the combo tool by a good 10 years or so. This is the most popular configuration for the early Golfers - two blades and long file. It wasn't until the 70s when they de-emphasized the long file that the version without (first with blade then with combo tool) became more common. Made like this from from the mid 1940s until the mid 1970s.

It's a Victoria model 244 k :)
Edit: what Mr. jazzbass said :D

BTW I wonder who bought that knife with the wide version of the long nail file... Sadly it wasn't me.
