Tom sells it by the foot, although there might be a minimum order amount- I'd suggest contacting him at tom@sosakonline.com for details.

Yeah it'd probably be cheaper to get it over the pond, as I've only seen decent stuff on evilbay, and at a pretty big price too :-\
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Cheers, ill wait a while before ordering then and put in a nice big order to make the most of the postage charges.  I cant justify buying it in bulk at the moment; I've already spent too much on camping gear and headphones this month!

Made the red and black one this afternoon, the plain black one has been on my wrist for about 1yr now, starting to look a bit worse for wear but its very comfy now!

Nice, I like that belt design.  I've been interested in this for a while, and I'm gonna try and get into making my own.  It looks fun/cool/very useful!

Hi all

Dave, those key keepers are awesone.!

Not been making much stuff or posting this summer as I've moved house, but got a few new colours in and a few new clips and this is the result:

First up some monkeys fists, I use wooden balls for the core of these and they have come up quite nice:

Next up is a set of cobra bracelets for a customer, ACU and coyotee brown - great combo:

Last up is a new colour for me, its a lovely dark rust, really different from the lighter browns & tans.

Worked this with a monkeys fist and a simple snake lanyard.  The clip on the lanyard was a recent find, as I have not used this style (with the eye hole) before.  This clips gives a much better rotation of the cord, unlike the gate snaps:

Thanks
deano

This stuff is incredible!

Can a blithering idiot with fat fingers learn this stuff?  Can a neophyte tell me how long their first/simplest lanyard took to make?

I looked at some of the animated web tutorial links, but they seem to move much faster than my mind, let alone my fingers...

Anyway, I'm impressed.  Some of these creations are really beautiful.  :tu:

(Image removed from quote.)

I dont understand how you can have the red 'outer vertical loops' and black 'inner horizontal loops' (not sure if that makes sense to you lol).  I've successfully tied a bracelet like that, but its from one piece of paracord and I dont see how you could get two colors so perfectly lined up like that.  Please explain, cause I really love the way that black and red looks and wanna make one!

Re: Got Paracord?

The way the cobra stitch is weaved you always have one of the threads forming all of the outer loops and the other one forming the "horizontal loops" on each side of the stitch. If you could see the "back face" of that bracelet, it would be the other way around (i.e. red "horizontal loops" and black outer loops). Just take two pieces of paracord of equal length and different color, tie them in a bend and begin the cobra stitch from there; the two-colored outcome of the photo will just emerge. See for example this one I made for my girlfriend:

Here's a paracord flashlight belt holder.  I know a lot of folks still use Maglite C/D cell flashlights, so here's a simple DIY paracord version of a Maglite belt holder using under 10 feet of paracord with the cobra stitch/Solomon bar/Portuguese sinnet knot(amount of cord used depends on how wide the section the belt fits thru, this one is larger than it needed to be)...

There are a lot of different cords out there now called paracord . The real Type III Mil-spec 550 is not the cheapest (approx .08 cents/foot) and can be limited in colors (although I believe the choice is getting wider) . There is a lot of psuedo paracord out there that is not the same .It is not constructed the same nor does it tie the same . Some of these have seven strands and some do not . I find the crazier the colors the more the chance you are not getting real 550 .
Paraline is a similiar product with a 450 or lower test .
I prefer the real thing as it is hardy and will not wear quickly in your pocket or on your belt . A brand I like is G.I.Plus 550 Type III Commercial .
I have heard Supply Captain has good stuff from ppl I trust (Storm) and if the CDN buck ever comes up will be buying there in 1000 ft rolls for the best price . Nothing is cheap in Canada .
Go Mil-Spec if you need the hardiness and you wont be dissapointed . After all , in an crisis situation you want to be able to use it for survival.
Seven inner strands and often one of these is striped . The lengths used in projects will not even be the same for the cheap stuff and it does not melt the same (some of it likes to burn).
I have made a variety of things mostly copying Stormdrane (thanks dude) and while I dont sell I can trade each item for its equivalent($10) in kit at the local surplus (sweet)

Yea I'd prefer to use the real mil-spec stuff for most of my stuff, but I love the look of the black and red combination.  Does Tom (rotokid) sell mil-spec paracord?

This is the best deal I've found for all longer lengths (100' to 1000") :
