Here's my first try at paracord, I made a lanyard for my Spyderco Delica. I think this was called a box knot, and the only problem is that it can't be removed without cutting it off and I wish I had polished the pocket clip before adding it, as the lanyard hole goes through the clip. You can also see the file work I did on the lock bar.

That's fine looking both the lanyard and file work :tu: You could have made that before putting it on the knife. Just make the initial loop big enough to push through the hole of whatever you're putting it on and push the rest of the lanyard through the loop, if that makes sense. I don't have anything on me to take a pic of to show what I'm describing but I'll try to remember to get one here later.

Yeah, that was actually the way the tutorial I followed showed it being done, but the hole on the Delica isn't that big and only easily accommodates a single pass of the cord so I passed it through first and tied the fob with the knife already on. I'd like to make some for my SAKs, and they'll definitely be attached the way you described.

How did you achieve the fluff end without white backing showing through? Did you de-vane it? Or is it red fibers on the inside?

Roommate came home with Camo and Black 550 today 100ft of each.  It's amazing how much paracord we went thru .  I realized I'm not good at fancy paracord work so I've stuck to simple stuff.

Good think with paracord is that you can tie and untie it lots of times, easy for practice. Try some videos from Youtube. TIAT and Stormdrane have some great tutorials.

Practice makes perfect, you wanna see some of the rubbish I've made over the years! Trust me it doesn't always come out right, can take a few attempts to get a project looking right.

You haven't truly worked with paracord, until you've had frayed pieces of paracord and melted plastic all over the table and a defeated look on your face, while slowly chanting curses at the still usable paracord.

Gutted paracord gaucho knot tightened over a wooden bead, and a lanyard loop finished with a two-strand stopper knot.

Haven't tied much lately with my hands bothering me, but I don't feel right if I go too long with just working my shoelaces, lol.  Here's a pic from another angle.   :D

Been making a bunch of paracord stuff. Put some bling on my knoters tool. Made some bracelets, paracord pens and some wire ties using household wire and gutted paracord.

So far it's just a proof of concept thingy - I wanted to make sure that I could make this bracelet the way I wanted and still have it as a quick deploy bracelet. In this example, there's 5 metres of paracord; according to google, that's 16.4 feet.
When the cord is needed, you simply untie one simple knot and push the cord of the center strands from the other end.
Below, for size reference, is a normal Ripcord Sinnet which holds about 3.5 metres of cord; 11.5 feet, according to google.

I may have made the other one too wide for comfort though... Won't know, until I get some more cord and get a chance to finish it off.

Amici,
I always, ALWAYS carry 440 paracord everywhere I go. In my bag, as a lanyard, and even wrapped around a small ceramic rod I carry in my pocket for touch ups. In the woods forget it.. Para chord will save your life if the poop hits the fan if you're stranded in the field somewhere...

In a nutshell, the motto for any well prepared EDC prepper should be "Parachord, DON'T leave home without it!!" period!!

Any particular reason you Carry 440?

550 is so much easier to find around here!

Amici,
550 is great, BUT for pocket carry, I find 440 a little lighter hence I can carry more comfortably in pocket than 550 which is a tad bigger and better suited to being wrapped to something more suitable for its size and thrown in a vehicle or a bag..

I carry just enough 440 on my person in case of emergency whatever that could be, (tourniquet, tinder, etc.).. It's actually getting a little bit harder to find. so far it looks like China being the cheapest, is the place to find it, and that's on the Bay...

I might have to order me some. Variation would be nice. You can probably fit a lot more into a fob or design too huh?
