Nope! But i'm getting good at this paracord malarky (i say good, better than i expected anyway!) Same knot just a slightly different way of doing it.

After playing with the great one Hawk sent me, I'm hunting around for some cord to give it a shot myself!

I know someone linked some tutorials earlier...I'll check further back in this thread for them.

Hi

One other tip for lanyard making is:

Loose knots make OK lanyards, tight knots make the best lanyards.!

Thanks

I still can't get on with lanyards on tools.  I tried one on my OHT then Calvin sent and I just couldn't get on with it.  It just got in the way.

I do use a lanyard for my keys though.  I have one that Deano made that I attach to my belt hook with a S-Biner and I carry that all the time now.

I'm back!!

I'm the same way. For EDC lanyards just get in the way for me. But if I'm boating I will definitely use something to secure the tool to my person. I do love the look of some lanyards and it's always handy to have some Paracord around.

for me I need them at times at work. During the off time we have to do plant Maint. and I am tired of going up and down the catwalk to get the tools that are dropped. Now company tools I really dont care about, but mine.... Well I like them in one piece.

You know, now that I think about it, I've dropped my LM Core from atop an 8' ladder and of course I was in perfect position and all pieces were just right for securing together when it happened. Down the ladder, up the ladder, refit everything. Ugh! Yeah, maybe at the least I should use a lanyard with the Core.

Hey Roadie, what's that blade in your pic? Looks ssshaweet!  :)

That would be my Becker (BK&T) Necker, no longer made unfortunately but it is a superb blade, Def used to have one, think he sold it to someone else on the forum though.

As for the lanyard on tools, i have the one in the pic with my Becker on my Climber to help with getting it out of my pocket and a simple loop one on my F1 to stop it going flying if i lose grip on it. On multitools i do find they get in the way a bit but they do come in handy at times.

It depends on the tool with me. I have one on one of my Juice models and if I ever get a Wenger Standard Issue I'll put one on there. But I tried one on my Spirit and it didn't work out. Of course the lanyard hole on the Spirit is in an awkward place anyway.

Does anyone here put lanyards on flashlights as well?

Again I can't get on with that either. :-\  Although if I was to use my Tec 40 up high etc I would probably attach the included lanyard then.  But not every day.

I have a small 1" gutted paracord loop on my Farmer...it's a little easier to grab out of my pocket, and the lanyard itself is so small it doesn't get in the way while using the tool.

For full size tools I have about a 2" loop on my Wave.  It's on of those "grab/pocket/and go" tools for around the house; that and I have no sheath for it to begin with :D

I remember putting it on initially during a camping trip because the Wave sank into my leather Mag Lite/Multi sheath to a point where it was hard to get out, so I tied a loop onto it and let that hand outside the multi compartment.

I can't get on much with Lanyards on tools. multitools.

Lanyards on knives - sure.
Lanyards on tools with on the one function (a hacksaw, or an adjustable spanner) - yeah alright.

Multis spin me. I'm still trying to find/make a lanyard that works and doesn't get in the way. (Until then, I take my fakey Bear Jaws when I go sailing instead of anything else)

Hi

It won't come as a surprise that I have put a lanyard on a flashlight.

But before I post the picture, it not a typical type of lanyard, i.e. 5 inch long square stitch with clip.

My needs were that I needed:

 - Small light
 - Easy to hold
 - Easy to use
 - Attach of to a belt of requird

Considering this, there was nothing that was on the market that I could use.

After looking at some other lanyards styles I came up with this:

Its a small cobra stitch that is connected at one end to the pen clip of the shaft and the other end a simple loop. This can easy be connected to a belt clip or any other lanyard that is connected to you

For carrying the trick here is that the loop is then inserted onto the groove on the torch and a little lanyard tightener keeps it attached around the torch head. This makes a perfect strap where you can wrap your hand around the torch, with you middle finger going through the stitching loop.  The torch is operated by your thumb.

All in all this simple mod make a different when carrying and using the torch.

It does illustrate that paracord has many more uses, you just need to be inventive.

Thanks
deano

You gotta get them when they are young... they will be customers for life.!   :D

Plus I have got to hand over the business to my son (aged 2) one day, so the sooner he gets used to lanyard making the quicker I can retire...

Thanks

I was feeling quite wealthy today so picked up $10 worth of Nylon Cord.

It's Lookalike Paracord, but says nothing of being loaded to any particular poundage.

Oh well, close enough is good enough (for now) - I asked the bloke at the store and apparently it comes in Green or Green.

Being a fashionable gentleman, I chose the Green.

Time to wear my soft luxurious fingertips to the bone with some knottage.

(Off Topic, I also bought a new roll of Cling Cloth Tape, (Cling being the Australian brand of tape)

Cloth Tape is what you call Duct Tape (To Aussies Duct tape is a plastic, cloth free sort of silver tape. Also brilliant for any and all taping purposes from decorative to medical. If a wound can't be Superglued or Duct taped, then I hope you have your affairs in order)

A lady friend gave me some paracords the other day. However, these paracords are smaller in diameter than the ones made by Deano and given to me by Calvin.

Here are some pix of my "creations". :salute:

The 4 paracords below came from Calvin. All the rest are my creations.

the GAK was given to me by Calvin

Has anyone here by chance posted how to tie some of these knots.  I know how to do the square looking one but how about the one that you can make a bracelet out of.  A friend of mine has one and it looks cool.  He was in Iraq for over a year and I think someone there was making them to combat boredom between fighting.

The knot that can be made into a bracelet is the Turk's Head Knot.

Here are some online tutorials.

Def, those are cute landyards!

Where did you buy the skulls. I don't know where to buy small half rings and the skull beads or just simple round beads.
