err i have a skittle?

how do i do the circular weave lanyards?

The biggest Monkeys Fist I've done to date was around a 75mm steel ball, I ended up using some cheap rope. Made a nice door stop for a friend.

The small keyfob MF had a marble in it.

What do you mean by circular weave lanyards ?? If you can post a pic or give a link to what you wish to make I'm sure we can find a tutorial.

yeah, i will do when i get some buckles  :tu: going to attempt a lanyard for my hopefully future sak  :D

The first one I made (which is still on my daughters wrist two years on) had a loop and old brass button as a clasp. A bit unique and she loves it :tu:

It's made with really cheap cord, not proper 550, but the principle's the same :)

I used to come here a lot.

Got it, cross weave lanyard, see here - http://www.lighthound.com/Cross-Weave-Paracord-Lanyard_ep_41-1.html

In the above example they melt the ends, but the pic you gave uses the The Completion Stitch, see here - http://boondoggleman.com/prj_completion.htm

Also note that in the pic you gave the insides off the paracord have been removed to make it flat when pulled into the weave.

Let us know how you get on, with pics please.

Yep ungutted will be fine, it will look a bit rounder/fatter.

Why not make one of each, gutted and ungutted, then take your pic.

Looking good there, nice one.

Now don't burn the house down melting the ends.

And don't drop burning paracord on your finger, it hurts, and don't rip the cooled plastic off your finger as it will leave a dam hole in the skin and hurt even more, and son't show the wife, she will just make that face and look upwards. Learn from my mistakes!

The Monkey's Fist, one of my Fav knots!

This knot was made by sailors with a rock in the fist for mass. It would be made on the end of a heaving line and thrown ashore. The dockers were known to cut them off due to not being to happy at being hit by the monkey's fists.

You can make these big or small. Inside you will need a object to fill the space. I've used 22mm bearings, marbles, computer mouse balls.

I tend to insert the round object after the second turn of the last set of loops.

Here's a link to an animated tutorial - http://www.animatedknots.com/monkeysfist/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com

and another animated link - http://www.marinews.com/Monkeys-Fist-772.php

And here's some step by step pics - http://www.igkt.net/beginners/monkeys-fist.php

Enjoy.

Opps I nearly forgot, and a link to the adjustable sliding knot to finish it off - http://www.satincord.com/htm/adjustable_knot_tutorial.htm

Enjoy

As I recall he said they would attatch them to a line and shoot them (in a canon thingy) over to supply ships, for resupply under way

The monkey fist was the first knot I learned with paracord. Man my fingers hurt trying to learn that one.

Some of my latest creations :D

I am really happy with this square weave. Thanks to Essexman for the link to the completion stitch  :tu:

This was a trial with a side release buckle I had lying about. Clearly the buckle is too big but it was fun to try it; I might get some of the smaller buckles. This one was capable thanks to Stormdrane's tutorial  :tu:

The cobra stitch took a bit to get the hang of but I soon got there :D

Then I tried this slip on version which worked quite well.

I am almost finished a two colour slip on version which looks pretty good so far  :D

Now the kids want one lol. Looks like I'll be ordering some neon pink and some camo paracord  ::) :D

:tu: :tu: Nice work cerbera147 well done.

I should have warned you, if you have kids they well all want a couple, and they all their friends will want one and then.......

To make that bracelet fill out a bit to the clips you could go back over the cobra again to  make a king cobra?

Thanks guys

And yes Essexman my daughter's friend now wants a pink one too  ::) 50 feet of neon pink please!! :D

Definitely addictive. I ordered 50ft of black and only 15ft of orange; orange is all but gone. Tied up in other things if you will

Think I'll order a bit more for next time. Maybe try a King Cobra  :tu:

Is there an easy fix if you run out of paracord when making a bracelet? Hypothetically speaking of course  :D

I order 100 foot min of cord, it's really odd how it dissapears without me knowing.

You can join two cord by melting. WARNING - this can hurt and/or burn down your house.

Place the two ends end to end and heat with a flame. When the two ends are almost dripping remove heat. Then push the two end to touch and hold until the set. With practice you can join two colours to make a bi colour bracelet.

BTW doing this was how I burnt my finger, a burning melting drop fell onto my finger, which I put under the tap straight away, but then without thinking I pulled the now solid plastic off leaving a 5mm dia hole in my skin right next to the knuckle. Hurt for weeks.

enjoy
