I just finished my first survival bracelet.  OD, and with a friction closure.  Pretty basic design because I simply don't have any hardware to finish it out.  I will be buying some buckles now, as I really dig the idea of wearing these.  It's about 8.5 feet of paracord in a tiny package, and after testing it before completing it I can undo the whole thing in under 40 seconds.  Tying it back takes quite a bit longer!

I though I did put some stuff up. I did however realize that I dont have paracord, but 3mm nylon cord, and worse of that the colors are quite limited, still I think the outcome aint that bad.

what you think?

Looking good.I make the paracord bracelets to sell and so far I believe I have sold over 150 bracelets.I have made enough money to buy a new laptop and what's left over goes into my SAK and MT fund. It's a great hobby.

A few knots to try:  Gibbet and Ichabod(sliding loops), Arms-Akimbo(decorative lanyard knot), and Broach Loop(fixed loop)

My pics with the knots tied:

And loosely tied(follow the path of the cord from the top):

I had an idea to make my paracord bracelets easier to put on and take off.For those that make bracelets you know you weave around a core of paracord. For my core I use 16 inches of paracord with the internal strands removed.I cut an 8 inch piece of 1/16 floral wire and thread it through one halve of the core and make a long narrow loop. This is my bendable core that I weave around. You put the finished bracelet on by bending it around your wrist.I have wore one for a couple of days and it is very secure. What I like best is the fact the bracelet will fit various wrist sizes and it's so easy to put on and take off. This works really well for kids and us old folks. The floral wire is very pliable and I don't think it will break under normal use.

Me too. I've been reading Spaulding posts not recognizing the captain himself! Would an even thicker gauge wire work as well? More of a permanent bend preferably with some spring... Great idea. Do the ends overlap or did you keep them short enough not too touch together?

Can anyone make my new avatar fill the whole box. I had to try and do a quick edit of it. (there was nudity) I actually have a few that I need edited. I have no idea how to do editing of photos.

And no this is not my wife. LOL.

EDIT: Actually can someone just explain how to do it. I have to figure it out sometime.

Any thicker wire would be hard to thread through the paracord and it really works good with the 1/16 size.I also bend the ends of the wire a little and crimp to make the treading easier and the blunt ends won't pierce the end of the cord.I do have a gap of about 1/4 inch so the ends don't touch. The spring wire would be harder to find in my area and probably cost more. The floral wire is about $1.00 per 6 ft.and forms to the wrist very well.

Try http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm or http://www.hamrick.com/upg.html both free and easy to use programs, you should be able to achieve a good result. The vueprint one will do both editing and resizing. If you point me to that pic you want to use i'll take a quick look, then explain how to do it :tu:

My local army surplus store has lots of colours. Its probably cheaper for you online but I'd be happy to hook anybody up if they're stuck.
