It was an interesting birthday. Too much cake and way too much ice cream.

Ugh. I'm glad we went out for drinks the previous night. I think I've been sweating out pure buttercream frosting all day.

Other than that it was a good day, I spent a lot of time on the phone since most of my friends are fairly distant but my girlfriend volunteered for some exploring I've been wanting to do. I finally got to poke around under/in some of the older buildings in town, I didn't find anything cool but it was nice to have a willing sidekick.

Through selective statements and politicking I have managed to secure a First-Light Tomahawk (

) flashlight as my birthday gift. It should be in sometime next week.

Not too much anymore, the cold has been getting to me this winter so I've tried to stay indoors or by a bonfire when outside.

Once summer rolls around I will begin finding new sites, to my surprise I have found that an afternoon spent at the City Hall and on the phone can usually find a contact for whatever property I've been looking at and about half the time I've been able to get permission to go poke around and even an offer for a tour.

I've been trying to get to the Sloss Furnaces upstate for a while, we went by but couldn't get it. It looked like they were doing some sort of construction. Birmingham looks like a good city for exploring, there's a lot of old steel industry sitting around and the drains might have some promise too.
