Ruby scaled Vic. SAK clone spotted...
on: December 10, 2011, 06:02:32 PM
Was at my local hardware-store today, picking up some lightbulbs, when I decided to browse the store for a little and I came across a SAK Clone with ruby scales... Think it's a Climber clone.
It has a nice logo in the scales and a rather gaudy print on them as well :

It's a 3-layered one :

It's even got some fluting on the corkscrew :

But alas, on the back you can see the tang stamp, and it's not Victorinox.

The silver logo in the scales looks nice though, and at first sight, they might be compatible with real Vic. scales...
But hey, at least they are honest, and don't call it a Swiss Army Knife, but a Helvetic Multifunctional Knife :)
Another funny thing is that Sencys is a house-paint manufacturer/distributor...

Bij de Praxis zeker? ;)

It looks almost identical to a Climber... could almost be an actual Vic. But I doubt it :)
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Nope, Brico... Same stuff, different country :)
It looks very much like the real deal, doesn't it...
But doesn't the Climber have the hidden needle behind the corkscrew?

I almost bought it, but then I remembered I got a genuine Cybertool 29 AND a Classic for that price last month on an eBay NTSA lot auction...

These are made in China. I bought that cybertool 34 clone brand new. Got it fresh of Ebay and opened a few things and feel nothing but grit. I soaked it in warm water and dawn and see little specks of dirt or metal shavings. This was brand new. Dried it out and still had grit in the joints. Hosed her down with WD40 and see tons of some crap coming out. Washed it with dawn again. Got disgusted and through it in a drawer. Saw this thread and dug it out. All the tools were glued in. Weird. Washed it again with dawn. Cool now, no grit. But now I remember what else put me off, the sideways slop in the blades. Open up the cybertool, and there has to be a 1/4 wiggle at the end. No victorinox precision here. It does have nice snap, but they cheat by making the tools smaller than the hinges and liner opening, hence sideways slop.

I have to say, the alox one does look interesting.
Does it come in any other colours and what is its actual cost?

I got mine brand new off Ebay. I wonder if the guy is selling seconds or ones that don't pass inspection?

This from the same seller. I bitched and he refunded my money and said keep it. Another Victorinox knock off of a swisschamp.
