How to tell a swiss tool?

Are there date codes on swiss tools? I have a swiss tool, thats it, not rs or spirit. How do I tell how old it is? Its in kinda rough shape. Is it a hard to find version or should I send it back and have them send me a replacement? Thanks

Yup the plierhead style is the best way to tell about what year the tool is.

It appears to be a 98 model. The blades are rough and the tools are very hard to open. The pliers are ok but the wire cutter is in rough shape. I think I will send it in and see what I get back. Any opinions on that?

Same thing happened to me. I sent my older version swisstool in, and they sent me a brand new swiss tool back. This one is the newest version with the larger plier head, and I carry it everyday.

I couldn't be happier..
