Well there is a 25% off coupon right now for Ace hardware, Wingman for $30 with a sheath, the previous 2 I had sold I don't think had sheaths so this seemed like a pretty good deal.

On a bit of a roll hunting these LM's for good prices before tax in the past year; Rev for $7, Wave $30-$35 cant remember, Squirt $27, Juice B2 $13

So my first Crunch.  :woohoo:

Never seen one in the hand, just online and the drool shots on the forum. So you can just imagine my excitement opening up this box today of an unused ‘99 model. Kinda lost for words...

Outstanding example, Max! I was hoping you found a first year Crunch. The 99' has a quality level that is unmatched by any other tool made in the 1990s. IMO of course.  :like:

Thanks WS, GLBM.  :hatsoff:

It is quite a little masterpiece. The little details boggle, like the v-cuts that form the stops, the dimple to retain the plier head when closed, the wheel inside the handle, how it all folds together. Even the tools have a SAK-like snap when opening and closing. They got it so right...and unchanged, still selling 20 years on. More than anything, this probably represents more of the engineering mastermind of Tim Leatherman than any of his other tools.  :like:

I present to you all, the newest member of the family!!! It's a '17 model that was at a big-brand-blue-crew-store and had no sheath (someone had "liberated it" from the blister package); I'd been eyeing it for months but had not seen it this past month 'til today. I was at the store browsing when, I heard a customer ask for "that knife that was on special and if it had been reduced more" ; when I turned, the associate had the ST in his hands, and said "no; same price as last time, half its latest price tag". Customer left it; I took it! And since I had a NIP Surge Premium Leather Sheath...  :woohoo:

Great score!   :like: Even after buying several different models, the ST300 is still my go-to Leatherman. It is comfortable to use, and takes on all but the most demanding of tasks--and for that, I grab the real tools. Need to get that bit adapter myself. I had a Gerber I used with it, but lost it somehow.

I had a recent situation like that myself.  About 5 years ago, I spotted a Surge at a local military surplus store, that also carried quite a bit of assorted "junk".  They wanted $100 for it, despite the fact someone had lost the file and the slip it goes into. Last year, they were clearing out a lot of the stuff the store had, since they were either closing it or merging it with a pawn shop the guy who owns it also had. I ended up getting the Surge for under $50; or around $50 with tax.

Nice score with the 300, Juan! :like:

It isn't a tool I ever took a liking to, but the build quality and ease of use are much appreciated. With all of the ST300 love I've seen recently, maybe I need to give the 300 another try soon? Perhaps I tried it to early in my MT journey(back in 2017 I think).
