Thanks, the leather sheath that came with it was causing rust. I'm not worried about this causing rust,or falling apart..

Nope Wetterlings 15" hatchet. I should note that I did not originate the cover design, but I'm probably the first to use pvc to duplicate it...

Thanks Corrugated,I find that distance and uncertain light improve the appearance of my work quite a bit. ;)

Pretty slick cover! So it appears to snap on and off then? That's clever.

Where did you get the PVC?

I had some pipe lying about. Split the pipe and cut to length w/ a circular saw. A few minutes in the oven and you can flatten it until it cools.

Ahhh...I wondered about how you did that! Otherwise PVC pipe would be too brittle. Very interesting! So simply heating it up allows it to be molded and shaped eh?

What did you use for rivets if I may ask?

Cook for ten minutes at 200 degrees (middle rack). It will be rubbery,I use a pair of leather work gloves to handle it ,I flatten it on the workbench and clamp it into place with a board. My eyelets are actually pieces of 1/4" copper tubing. I flare one end, cut to length ,then use a punch to flare the other end. I countersink the eyelet holes to give the copper room to spread. I'm still not real good at this, but I learn more every time I do something like it.

I fear I am limited by financial constraints to the low-tech poor-boy level. Still,it's good to know there are a number of options out there. I've been making my knife sheaths out of kydex, due to it's malleable nature. The PVC I use for heavier tools. I need to scout about and look for thin wall pvc pipe, then I can do away with buying kydex altogether.. >:D
