In BG they sell for like $15 :/ But it has three modes - I had one one-mode before and sold it. This one's better :D Comes with a battery and a charger, too... lol

The single mode one is $2.69. I posted a link in the deals section a week ago.
The battery and charger should not be much more.
Check the write-up on that charger, in the gadgets section or via the link at the end of my post. It does have some issues.

Hm.... I wasn't intending to use it, anyway, actually, as I have some smart charger for all types of batteries - Skilhunt or something.

I've got two of them, both three mode hi, low, and flash. One of them is acting a little funny but the other is great, I also bought a cheap recharge kit, two 3v aaa in order to run them since they say they will take the higher voltage and give off 400lm.. But heck for like $5 their not a bad little flashlight..

Yikes that is a lot of lumens.

I am pretty sure though I instructed you to try out some AA lights for me?  :pok:

Yeah, it would. :D  Don't get me wrong, I still like my Maglites as well, but even the best of the mini-maglites will pale in comparison to something that pumps out 850+ lumen.

my latest couple of lights

this first one is a bit like a girl on a dating website...  it's a lot more chunky than it appears in the photos   But to be fair it is hiding 3x AA cells in that body.
A little bit of a green tinge to the light but there is tons of it. Big hotspot and lots of flood. Three brightness levels are quite good and the less useful fast strobe and SOS modes. But the strobe is very attention grabbing (I might actually find that useful at work) and the SOS is actually SOS  ...  _ _ _  ...     ...  _ _ _  ...   rather than the usual SO SO SO...   NO way on earth it pumps out the claimed 800 Lumens, half that if you're lucky. Possibly a bit too chunky for daily carry, but 20 years ago I was toting a 3xDcell Maglite all day without complaint so perhaps I'm just getting fussy.

Second is a LED Lenser P7 ripoff but only 3xAAA rather than 4xAAA, single mode and no focusing head.  Actually not a bad light. It's the pick of the two being slim, light weight and having a fwd clicky switch.
Tighter hotspot than the Ultrafire above, but the claimed 220 Lumens actually ends up with longer throw albeit with less coverage at same distances.
This one looks better, weighs less, single mode (sometimes less IS more) and slips into my pocket without everyone thinking I'm pleased to see them. I think this is my new work light. The fatty can ride in the bag/car/truck as backup heavy hitter.

Thrunite Saber arrived today. It's a nice little light.

Not had it out in the dark yet but looks pretty comparable to my various other AA and Cr123 flashlights.
Three modes and NO STROBE are good news.  Hi, low and "firefly" aren't bad, but I would have preferred hi-med-low.

from Thrunite website plus my comments in red

Key Features

⦁ LED:CreeXP-G2 LED with a lifespan of 20+years of run time
⦁ Three output mode:
AA battery: High (169 lumen, 1.5 hours), Low (9 lumen, 39 hours). Firefly (0.09 lumen, 147 hours).  mediun of about 40-50 lumen and the existing low would suit me better
CR123 battery: High (251 lumen, 1.8 hours), Low (22 Lumen, 13 hours), Firefly (0.09 lumen, 195 hours)  medium of about 70-80 lumen and the existing low would suit me better
⦁ Memory function to stay at any one of the 3 modes.
⦁ Regulated current for smooth consistent strong output.  VERY visible PWM in low mode when using Li-ION cells, Hi is okay and firefly doesn't seem to be affected at all
⦁ Max  output : 169lumen (1*1.5V AA battery)
                         251lumen (1*CR123 battery) or 1*14500 battery
⦁ Aircraft quality aluminum body structure.
⦁ Premium type III hard anodized anti-abrasive finish.
⦁ Tempered double coated ultra clear glass lens.
⦁ Stand on tail to serve as candle.
⦁ Water proof to IPX-8 standard.
⦁ Streamlined body design.
⦁ One handed operation.
⦁ Compact easy to use twist switch.  never been much of a twistie fan (except the cheese flavoured corn snacks) but this one is not bad, easy to use one handed thanks to the knurling.
⦁ Reverse polarity protection.
⦁ Size:84 mmX20 mm.
⦁ Weight: 1A tube 33 gram without battery.
CR123 tube 19 gram without battery.

The multi battery ability of the Sabre is a strong draw for me as much as I am out in the sticks often.

Not so much a fan of the Hi Med Low switch option or the levels of the light output.

eBay sent me a $10 coupon, so I decided to finally pull the trigger on a Fenix LD12.  It finally got here today and so far I'm pretty impressed for just 1 AA (esp. something that plays nice with rechargeables, unlike Maglites).

So how does this thing work?

Does it come on in the last mode you left it on or one step further then where you left it?

It uses Fenix's two switch system.  The tail cap is simply on/off WITH momentary on.  The side switch is the mode switch and it does have a memory so whatever mode you were using last is what it comes on in (except strobe or SOS).

Pretty neat. It has a lot of different modes too.

Just got a fenix e12 to replace my inova x1i. I like my fenix e11 more than those two. Not sure how I feel about not having a momentary on. But I dint think I like it.

I agree about the momentary on - I prefer clickies and that's one thing I look for.  If a light doesn't have momentary on, it's usually a deal breaker.  Another thing I look for, esp. in single cell lights is the reversible pocket clip which gives you the ability to clip it on your hat.  That feature is handier than a pocket on a shirt!  That's one reason why I LOVE my little Microstream so much.

I replaced my E12 with the Quark QPA because it did not have a pocket clip. If the E12 would have had a clip I would still have it. I miss the momentary on the E12 had but I like the new light levels and functions of the Quark more. I need to have a clicky and clip that tail stands and is AA powered for my EDC.

So I was excited to see what the fuss was all about all the time... such a popular light and in the same time here it's sold for so MUCH money in comparison to other lights. Why is such a tiny and common thing so pricey? Really, no idea. Don't get me wrong, I like the LD01, just I don't get why it would be so much more expensive than the Olight i3/s, for example.

Here it is, brand new :D

I still have some... trouble changing the modes with one hand, though  It either won't change, or it will flicker or something. It needs to be rotated more than what I'm used to to change the modes, it seems.

Ages ago, Gareth lured me towards Thrunite's website, and it ended up costing me for a Ti, T10 and T20 which take AAA, AA and CR123A respectively. I found them to be nice reliable twisty lights. Nothing spectacular, just good simple lights, great for attachining to the lanyard point of SAKs with a little spring clip or something. Ideal for when you don't particularly need a "dedicated" clipped torch, or for keeping a light attached to your other stuff.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, and Gareth lured me back to Thrunite's website again :twak: where there was a whole new Ti, T10, and T20 :dwts: This time the lumes and run times were better, a reverse clicky had been added to the T10 and T20 which both now came with lantern attachments, and all three had pocket clips (and a little keyring clip on the Ti as well).

I've got black tools, black knives and black torches that coordinate nicely and silver tools and knives but no silver torches to go with them so I had to find a sensibly priced AAA LED light to go on my keys.  Thrunite Ti was a bit pricey, but the LED Solitaire was half the price on Amazon.  Nice bright spot to begin with then opens out to a good flood, about the same as my Fenix E05.  Significantly longer and a little heavier, but still ok in the pocket - a nice little light.

No it was definitely you ... in fact you were using the T10 (?) and raving about it when you stopped over at my house that time. I can't blame you for not remembering though ... the port and whisky was flowing well  :D

Certainly don't regret these purchases either. They are certainly a step up from the previous models, not that there's anything wrong with the originals, but the addition of pocket clip and tail clicky (not on the Ti, but it is stainless  ;)) are very welcome. They'll not replace the V10R as favourite off work carry, but I'm sure they will still see their fair share of carry time  :)

Errr....sorry about that Al. :-[  In my defense I'm pretty sure it was enki who put us both on the Thrunite in the first place.  The second time was all me though. >:D

Nope, Gareth's right. :P Two years ago I think. I linked him to the Thrunite site, and you saw it and bought it too. They don't call me MTO's Personal Shopping Assistant for nothing. >:D
