Amazon had some crazy lightning deal a few days ago with a promo coupon from mfr for free light(you can still get the stainless one free with another purchase), so I wound up getting these 2 thorfire AAA lights for $5 total:

First impressions: the PF01S(black body) light has a low so low its pretty unusable, the rubber boot switch is kinda hard to push, it travels a long distance till it clicks in. has 3 levels, cant tailstand and no lanyard hole. build quality is ok, doubt it will be very durable tho.

The TS3A Stainless steel light has 2 levels and a strobe, the threads were very tight due to improper placement of o-ring, it got better after I moved it and lubed with silicon grease. it is slightly brighter than the black light, and is solidly built, came with split ring and lobster claw, but when its installed u cant tailstand it. Its a nice chunk of stainless steel with a decent metal clickie. its a little over 3 1/4" in length so I have no idea why they call it a keychain light when it dwarfs other offerings from olight and fenix

Both have perfectly centered emitters and black rated for 120 lumens, but closer to 80, SS in the 90-100 lumen range range

Overall for $5 was a hell of a deal(if they last), but since this is an off brand, I dont have much confidence in longeveity.

I needed a larger torch and given my preference for Olight I chose this.

3200 lumens with a 250m range. Going to give this a go tonight :tu:

Picked up this COB LED light as an impulse buy at my hardware store.  Claims 180 lumens.  It's a pretty good area light.
It has a bit of a refraction pattern, but not really that noticeable.  All in all a pretty good deal for US$4.

Ok I was sent this as an item to test. However I'm no longer in a position to test this anymore, but they still said keep it!

Specs on box

Glock and 1913 adapters included

Ambidextrous switch

That's very easy to reach

Low power 'navigation' blue light, which I quite like.

And then 400 lumens which is more than enough for a handgun

Overall this is a very credible first go at a compact weapon light. I see that they have released a PL II now which seems to have addressed some concerns of certain individuals.

Would I rely on this light to work every time if my life depended on it? As long as it's built as well as the M series. Would I use it in a home defence role, absolutely.

Just a quick note. The P226 in the photos is the co2 powered pellet version. Although the 226 was my handgun of choice for the last 20 years (laws permitting).

About 6-8 months ago I got a Jetbeam Jet U, not sure if I posted it here, but I wound up giving it to my mom as it had a plastic shaving in the TIR lens and it showed up in beam pattern. She loves the light tho, doubt she ever noticed it but as a flashaholic it drove me nuts

My second one arrived today was about $8 after I used some GB points. I love the deals I've been getting on AAA lights lately, this one has a weirdish beam pattern, not oval, but slightly squashed, again not great but not up to standards of the Jet 1, which is much nicer and not much more $.

Also I think the 135 lumens is overstated, its maybe 100, just slightly higher than my olight i3e. Comes with a decent lanyard, pocket clip & has 3 modes, a good deal if you can get it cheap, but I wouldnt overpay for it at the standard $13+ it usually goes for.

That's a shame to hear.  I'm a big fan of my Jet-1 and was thinking about the Jet-mu, but I'm not in a rush.

Yeah I think its the TIR lense, 2/3 of my olight i3e's have off centered emitters due to this thing. The Jet 1 is so much nicer, but I guess for the average user its not an issue, but I would think if you are buying this and not a walmart cheapo you are already a part time flashaholic. I'll keep if for now, see if I can get a pic of this weird beam, but it may wind up being gifted in the future as well.

not sure its showing up in the pic, best description I have is it looks like the middle section of a snowman thats past its prime and its 55 degrees outside

I am amazed by the new dimensions the MH27UV opened in my life. I read at night without disturbing my wife, I move around in the house without lighting up the whole place (we always chose the brightest of lightbulbs), I light up the specimens I examine with my stereomicroscope, loupe or macroscope, I keep my adaptation in the dark with the red light during stargazing sessions, I check my banknotes with the UV, I search for thing in my car's floor and trunk (because I dimmed with red filters all the lights in it, for astronomy) and so on.
The problem is that, strictly out of OCD, I feel I would like to have the Green light too. Hell, you don't have RGBUV without the G, right?
So, I wonder, should I buy the Nitecore SRT7 GT with all 4 auxiliary colored LEDs now (it's already available here) which is very similar to the MH27UV, or wait for the SRT9 that will give me some diferences (battery time, double the lumens and flooder mirror)?
Any thoughts?

If it were me I'd wait.  You'll only want the latest version anyway and so buying an intermediate one is a waste of money IMO.
