Tired of fussing with my phone, I wanted a keyring light to make the path to my house and the front door keyhole easier to find. A Lumintop EDC01 made its way here. It's a good size, has a very nice lens with an even beam spread and good width, and I like the spacing between modes.  :tu:

My only complaint is its OIL (Order of Illumination Levels :P - it sure ain't a gui!). I believe it's meant to be med-low-high, but mine is just about random. It does usually seem to remember the last mode used.

Found these headlamps for a dollar a piece at Walmart. They are 20 lumens, and while made cheap, are halfway decent. They use CR2032 batteries, and the compartment is easily accessible.  Unfortunately, CR2032s are a bit pricey to get good ones (the ones included, surprisingly, are lithium). If they die, I guess just buy a new one; but I do have some plain CR2032s from the big assortments Harbor Freight sells.  One's in the car's first aid kit, the other in a kitchen drawer, this one's just sticking around whatever I need it for.

Those sound like great headlamps to give the kids when we go camping.  Tell up how they hold up long term.

Last week I got my $5 free Olight flashlight.  It's a tiny little critter, barely bigger than a AA battery.

They were giving them away to folks who sign up for their email list/rewards program. The shipping was $5. If you spent more money then they gave you a better (edit: more expensive) light.

I just recently received the same light.  I like the SST-20 emitter as well.

I also got a Lumitop EDC01 to try out on my keychain.

I just ordered a few more of them in different emitters to try and give to friends........though I am somewhat scared that they might burn their junk off too?

They do get hot just like the Emissars.  If I was going to o give away, I would adjust the temperature setting prior so they ramped down before getting as hot.

They can get hot, just like Emissars.  If I was going to give any as gifts, I would adjust the temperature setting so it ramps down earlier to avoid getting as hot.

I think I read on BLF, you can set it to "muggle" mode so if you give one to someone and not worry they will burst into flames

Nice one!  :like:

It is. Great light, with large flood. It's super lightweight and just disappears in my shoulder bag, until I need it.

How do you find the EDC01? I've really happy with mine. Would buy again. :tu:

So far I am really liking it.  Up until this light, the Fenix E05 has been my favorite AAA.  From initial impressions, I am preferring the EDC01.  It has a wider beam that is more neutral tint with better color rendering.  I also like that the EDC01 has a brighter high as well as a lower low.  Both the EDC01 and the E05 can be turned on/off one handed, but the EDC01 seems easier.  The only big question is durability, which I cannot judge yet.

:like: I have the same light,  bought it when they first came out.  Run mine on 14500’s,  insanely bright on high for a light that disappears in your pocket.  Really impressed,  and there isn’t one scratch in the finish after 10 months in my pockets!
Just received the Lumintop Tool AA 2.0.  I'm quite impressed so far.  I have a lot of AA cells and wanted another AA light just because.  My bang around light is a Thrunite T10 which has served me very well now for years.  I have the 2014 T10 (xp-g2) metal tail switch and screwed on pocket clip version.  It has performed very well and continues to do so.  Thrunite has had several updated versions of the T10 since (2014) I just never picked up a newer one.

The Tool AA 2.0 runs either 14500 or AA cells something I appreciate. I didn't include alkaline cells as I don't use them.  The spacing is nice and what I really like is its quite floody.  I tried it with a 14500 cell and wow.  I will stick to NiMh Eneloops tho since I have quite a few of them.  Not a bad light for about $15US.  Oh, I also very much like the diffuser cap that comes with the light.  Its GITD and is much nicer than the plastic cone one I got with my T10.  It fits my S1R with a little nudge so thats neat.
[Ni-MH]

Medium: 28 lumens (12.5 hours)
High: 140 lumens (2.5 hours)
