Yeah, that's kind of my position as well.  I have to try and think of scenarios where the magnet might be useful to me and I can't think of many (if any at all).

I'm sure there are people who use them all the time, but it's not me.

If they made them optional or removable there are quite a few lights I might have bought, so perhaps my wallet is a bit better off. :D

I work inside dark steel equipment racks every day so the magnet can be handy on every single job for me.
I do have much better light options for that too but I still find it pretty handy to just carry one with a magnet at all times for impromptu work, just like why I carry a MT all the time!

Not been a problem for me but I dont keep them in the same pocket with anything else.
I could see that being an issue though.

Whereas I just drop way too much smurf in the same pockets. :D  Glad it works well for you. :tu:

I picked up these three this week. Figured I would give other brands a try. Trying Acebean and Thrunite for the first time. Also went with dual mode flashlights this time for the battery flexibility.

I've had a couple of Thrunite lights over the years without any complaints.  Don't think I've tried Acebeam before though.  Been a long time since I bought a 2AA light mind you!  Kinda glad they're still being made.  :tu:

From my experience both are nice for the price point.

Thanks Sos24 and Gareth. I figured these would be great for travel and the glove boxes. If I forget to charge it, I can always get batteries at the quicky mart or grocery store. The UI of the Thrunite is really good. The one on the Acebeams requires a learning curve.

I’ve only tried one Nitecore flashlight (Tubi 2) which was nice especially for the size.  Their battery chargers and powerbanks are nice too.

Looks pretty good. If it can run on alkaline cells, even better!

Yes, run on AAs or a button top 14500. Your choice.

I recently picked up an Oclip Pro as well.

I like the dual beams and usb-c charging

I plan on using it as a backpack strap light.  It will replace my Wuben X3 which I like a lot except the proprietary charger or magnetic.

I have the Ultra on my backpack strap and I keep the Pro in the console of the truck.

I figure I'll be prepared either way.

Just got a Lumitop GT Nano Pro 3.0.

I have a 10440 tube from a Nano Frog which I plan on using with it instead of the 10280 that comes with it.

Yikes! Sorry that happened to you, did you figure out why it happened? [Melted the lens on an Arkfeld]

It turned on in my pocket and cooked for a good while.  That's always an issue with side switches IMO.

Been wanting to try a different LED EDC light lately, and had a stupidly low budget--I also wanted rechargeable and flat.  Solitaires (both normal and warm white) just don't have great battery life for their somewhat below-average output. The Olight i3EOS tends to have a tendency to fall apart in my pocket. i3T and i5T are somewhat too much output for what I needed. Also, I've really moved more to rechargeable lights.

Been looking at the Nitecore Tube (and recently, the Tube 2.0) a lot lately--cheap ($10-ish--so half what I spend on the Maglite Solitaire LED every time one disappears), 55 lumens (for up close work and as headlamp backup--all I really need), flat, and it doesn't have just hi/low, but everything in between. On its lowest setting, it'll last 58 hours.

Supposed to show up Sat.

The Tube is a great wee light.  I'd probably carry mine more if it had a USB-C port.  Petty I know but I don't have many old school mini usb cables kicking around.

Nitecore makes really good flashlights.  I haven’t tried the Tube but have had a few others.

I have a number of Olights, and like the proprietary charger.  It is true that you have to make sure you have the right charger handy, including when traveling, etc.  So there is that.  You are DOA without it.  But its really the easiest type of charger to use, because that magnetic connector magically jumps right on the back of the light.  So its easy to top off your charge on the kitchen counter or night stand on a daily basis so you are always good to go.
