A new Maratac AAA, has replaced my Rolson. Took the chain and clip from the Rolson. It's now easier to carry and it also preserves the clip from constant use.
I prefer the new one because it has 3 modes and the led has a glass cover (the Rolson had no cover over the lens).

Just got my Fenix LD12, 2013 version with 125 lumens  :D Can't wait for sundown :D

So far I've had E25 and E11 from Fenix' AA flashlights, the E25 was too big and too throwy (2 x AA), the E11s I loved... the LD12's momentary on takes a fraction of a second more time than the E11's momentary on for some reason. It's a little longer and slightly bigger in diameter. The anti-roll thingie's more of a ... fancy stuff thing rather than really helpful, I think. The flat shapes there, going round the body of the light (can't describe it in a better way) turn out to be... only half of them all. They take turns, one flat, one rounded, one flat, one rounded.. so it may not roll on its own, but if you gave it a slight push on a steep surface, it will go down. The clip would do a better job as an anti-roll measure, I think. I wish my hands were a little larger so that I could keep my thumb on the on/off button and in the same time press the mode changing button with my pinky/whatever other finger. But, oh well. Anyway :D *me wants dark*
Thanks for your feedback. I love the Fenix E15 and use it quite a lot (daily). I've drooled over some of their AA and AAA models and the one's you mention. I think their quality is top notch  :tu:

Yep, I love Fenix, after their lights, I was disappointed in other brands I got... I've had Fenix E01, E05, E11 x 3, E25 and now the LD12 :D

I got a great mini led flashlight yesterday.

It has a key ring, comes with a small blade and scissors. Also has a small nail file with a screw driver at the end and a tiny retractible ball point pen.

Some people call it the Victorinox Signature Lite.

Well, as I said, so far I'm pretty happy with this one.

Pro's;
compact compared to my other 18650 light
more than bright enough
mode memory
well made
does tail stand, but a little wobbly of not on a perfect surface.

Con's;
odd feeling UI, switch on/off, but twist for mode selection.
strobe as part of the main sequence, so have to go through it to get from high to firefly etc.
Slightly cheap feeling clip, seems to be more of an afterthought rather than part of the design.

Other;
I've been using it on Low most of the day and that's been a good level for looking under beds (I've been inspecting electrical sockets.  Nothing too sinister, honest).  Good general purpose level IMO.

I'm really not sure about the claim of 95 lumen for the medium mode, it seems much brighter compared to my 121 lumen Eagletac in a ceiling bounce test.  In fact it's perhaps a bit too close to it's own High mode of 605 lumen. :think:

That looks interesting and very cool.  8) I love seeing flashlights or tools that instantly make you want to know more. This is one of those for me especially since i'm a AA and AAA flashlight snob.  :D So instead of looking it up online I want to know what you think of it.  :D  :tu:

I do sometimes think I should get a real, super bright, photon thrower, but have so far managed to resist. ;)  Did you get all the battery tube options?

I bought it as it is too unique & it reminds me of an old flashlight that i have when i was a kid. It is much smaller than i thought & it feels very solid when i hold it in my hands, probably because of the weight. However, i don't edc it currently due to it is still too bulky to carry it inside my pant's pocket & i don't like to clip it to my belt either, which makes me looks like mall ninja as I tug my shirt in my office attire.

For the UI, it cycling from high to low when you press the mode button & it do memorize your last mode. Same for the Red LED. What's annoys me is it will back to default high, each time you switch between white & red LED. Not my preferred UI. Probably i am spoiled by my current edc zebralight sc51 which its UI allow me to access to either low or high mode directly.

What i do like is i can lock out the light by pressing & holding down the mode button, rather than the conventional way of unscrew the tail cap. Also, to my eyes, it seems brighter than sc51 on high mode, but with a much narrow spill.

I will keep this light in my car. Other than normal use, the police strobe mode of the Red LED would be good to use as an extra/backup emergency light, says when i have to replace a flat tyres at road side.

Edit: the 'D' ring at the tail cap will make a small rattling sound, if you didn't attached the lanyard to it.

Didn't bother with the extended battery tube. I'm running this light on 18650, with the additional 18650 tube, the light becomes quite long. I don't need the extended run time, and wanted to maintain portability. Despite the size, the light is actually quite easy to carry in a jacket pocket.

Go on Gareth, you know you want an eye searing, super bright light.  :pok:

With lights I do feel the need to find a role for them to fill, and I honestly don't have a use for one, other than as a curio.  Not that having a cool toy isn't a good enough reason TBH, just that it's not quite enough for me. ;)

Gareth, decent Cree XML-T6 torches are know selling for $8 (due to the arrival of newer models) so getting a powerfull torch does not cost that much.
e.g. : http://www.SPAMCORP.com/2000-Lumen-CREE-XM-L-T6-Mini-LED-Flashlight-1x18650-p-90080.html

Many come with an adapter so that they can use 3AAA batteries (I know you are not too keen on that)

Look at CPF for some further discount coupons too.

There are some torches on ebay at the moment that come with an 18650 and charger that cost less than you can buy a decent 18650 for.
They alarm me a bit.

I mentioned this in another thread, but I just picked up the 4Sevens Preon A0-Ti Atom. It's a titanium version of the P0.

I'd like to say that this was a well-researched and well-thought-out decision on my part, but the truth is, it was in a store, I was looking at it, all logic shut down, and some weird 'Must Have!' mental command took over.

The A0 (and P0), has a flat end, so it can tail-stand. It has a rare earth magnet in the tail too, so can be stuck on ferrous metal objects. It has a split ring attached very near to the tail. The emitter cone glows in the dark, charged after the light is on. It has two settings, a low .25 lumen setting, and a high 30lm (or thereabouts) setting. It uses a single AAA cell, and is only very slightly larger than the battery.

It's a twist operation.

Like my P1, the A0 comes in on low mode, which is my preference.

Pretty happy with it so far. I'll see how it suits my needs after carrying it for a while.

Ißm having a hard time liking the P0/A0 cause of the "borrowed" design and, well, just about everything from the DQG Tiny II. 4sevens got a lot of heat on CPF for it when it came out too but they denied everything. ::) The thing is the design of the second generation DQG Tiny was public on CPF for months before the P0 even was announced and I spoke to the maker of it about it a few months before that when I was trying to acquire the gen 1 version of it. Kid of lost respect of the company after that. :-\

It's a cool light though so enjoy it. :cheers:

Uuhhhmmm...? Being unaware of any of that, I can only give a review of the product in-hand.

And for that product, i haven't carried the light long enough to know whether it will permanently replace my P1.

Lately I have been buying more and more into Selfbuilt's mantra of buying lights with adequate "highs", but lower "lows" with super long runtimes.  I recently bought a Fenix E35 based on that criteria, and it's a great light.  I must admit that not having a tailcap switch is a little weird, but those True ANSI lumens are nice, and the runtimes are L-O-N-G. I also recently purchased a Thrunite T10 for my keychain light, and I also like it, A Lot.  I was going to take a break, but then Battery Junction had a Smokin' "Black Friday Weekend Sale", and I bought 3 more flashlights. A Nitecore MT21A for the Rediculously Low price of $23, and also a Fenix E01 for Less than $10, and a Nitecore T0 for Less than 9 Bucks.  Since I was on a Roll, I went ahead and pulled the trigger today on a Solarforce T1 U2, which I'm buying as a Christmas present for Myself.
