Fenix LD12 is my latest

It's a great light, how do you like it?

This light seems to be pretty good so far, I've had it maybe 2 weeks and I'm pretty happy with it. It feels and looks pretty bulletproof as do the other fenix lights that I have (E01 & E05).
I think the lowest light setting is about the same output of my E01 on my key chain, I prefer the second brightness setting for most close up tasks.
From the 3rd setting to highest setting only seems to increase output by about 10%.
Would Lithium batteries make much difference? I've only used alkaline that's all work will supply...

What batteries do you use?

I use only Eneloops, so I can't talk about other types of batteries  But you're right that the high and turbo don't differ much. So, perhaps it's better to use the 60-lumen mode to preserve battery life. I also use the 30-lumen mode the most - it's bright enough to light up a whole room and it has a very long run time on this mode. I don't use the lowest one that much. And yeah, it is bulletproof, too :D

Using Lithium would definitely help.  Alkaline batteries are not good at all for high current applications due to high internal resistance.  NiMH would also be an improvement, but not as good as Li.

Sheer torture... Luckily I've received most of what I've ordered in reasonable shipping time but there's been a few that seem to just sit in the post office for days going nowhere...

Here's a Solarforce L2T that I bought used last week.  It's running a Nailbender XP-G R4 neutral white (4000K) 3-mode dropin.

It is a neat feature, but the clip is a little chunky.  I think I would rather just have the ring with the lanyard hole, as I don't tend to clip lights of this size into a pocket.  It works well to clip to a belt though.

I've always wanted one of these for whatever reason, but had never seen an issue one for sale at a reasonable price.  Yesterday at the show I went to, there it was for $12, an old-school classic workhorse:

US Army issue Fulton MX991/U, complete with all three lens filters.  Red, blue, and the clear one I can't figure out the reason for.   Lenses look messed up in the pic for some reason, but they're scratch-free.  Takes two D cells, the lenses and the spare bulb are stored in the bottom, which is actually two separate pieces.  There's a metal clip on the back, as well as a bail for hanging on the bottom.  It's not a very powerful light, but these things were built and issued with minimal changes to the design since 1944.  The switch guard ears date this one to after 1985.  It's just a tank of a light.  I'm looking into an LED drop-in upgrade for it, there are a number of options out there.  It's a neat piece, and is sitting on my nightstand now.   :tu:

Is that lens white or is it the replaceable clear lens?

It's molded in almost a scalloped pattern, it's not smooth like the regular lens.  It seems to soften up the beam, almost like a diffuser but not quite.  Does that make any sense?   It does to me.......   I'll get some more pics tomorrow, my camera battery decided to die on me.  >:(

Very cool jd!  :tu:

If you ever want to upgrade it, here is an option: http://www.king-cart.com/cgi-bin/cart.cgi?store=elektrolumens&product=Anglelux

Of course, it would make that $12 Fulton a little less affordable....   :D

:o  Yeah just a little!  I'm probably going to start off with a simple drop-in LED, but now I've got that link bookmarked.  Bunch of enablers around here, I'll tell ya.  No wonder I fit in so well.....  ;)

I mentioned some of this in the what did you just get thread but here it goes. The white lens is a diffuser that keeps the light beam from emitting from the light. The clear lens is a magnifier that is suppose to  make the beam go further. We would pair the diffuser or magnifier with a red or blue (and sometimes green or yellow) lens during field exercises, depending on the situation.

Thanks for the info Terry! :tu:  Kind of figured you'd know if anyone did.... :)  Then again I asked the guy I went to the show with. He just shrugged, and he's a retired master sergeant......

I recently got a Streamlight C4 at the suggestion of Captain Spaulding. It's not the brightest light but I'm pretty pleased with it. It could use a hole for a keyring though...

These 3 classic cheap diving torches.
The two similar ones have no same parts, even though they are supposed to be the same model with different colours.

Glad its working out for you. Like you said its not to bright, but i'm liking mine better the more I use it. Concerning the hole for the keyring. It is a thought that you could drill a hole in the top of the pocket clip and attach a ring.

Whatever you do, DON'T BUY ONE OF THESE.  You will instantly be trying to figure out how to pay for every product Malkoff sells.

You have been warned.
