Scissors & parcel hook make the Hunter
on: December 20, 2011, 09:17:13 PM
Just picked up my first Sak in awhile. The Camper was perfect to compliment my other tools. I was going to get the the Huntsman but realized that all it had over the camper was a parcel hook and scissors ??? I'm covered on scissors. Sooo, to be clear.... A camper becomes a huntsman because of the scissors and parcel hook? Maybe a gut hook, otherwise I  didn't quite get it.

Yup you got it  :tu:

However depends on your perspective, I carry a climber by preference so to me a huntsman is a climber with an added saw.   To me the camper is a climber where the scissors are swapped for a saw and it's got no hook.

So you picks your sak and you gets what you want  ;) Vic are nice like that there's pretty much your choice of what ever tools you prefer (just as long as you don't want the scissors on a 84mm)

exactly. Almost every combination of tools has a model, so you can pretty much create your ideal multitool with a SAK.... so long as you don't start asking for things that are too exotic like Alox scissors and hook

Well, not quite, I want a Compact with a philips rather than a corkscrew. They don't make it. :P I'd dig even harder an 84mm of that, with a key ring!

The saw is what seperates the Climber and the Huntsman. Honestly, I'd rather get the chisel behind the saw blade like you find in the Ranger and larger knifes, but they don't do that.

As for the hook, that is there for a lot of reasons. My favorite is tightening laces- shoe laces usually, but other things get laced up and a gentleman always has the tool to help a damsel in distress.  :D But it really works well for tightening up iced up boot laces to.

Those do exist actually. But those were made for "display purposes" only, apparently :)
There should be a thread about those somewhere...

Well, not quite

That's why I said almost! There's always some fussy so-and-so who has to be different  :pok:  :D
