It would be cool to have a "Welcome to MTO" type smiley
If the trees blew down the wind and no one was around, would the alphabet song really go backwards?

I am not keen on "discouraging" smileys, especially the "beating up the dead horse", "facepalm" ones as they tend to destroy any new thread that someone believes that it is similar to an older one or raises a question that was similar to one answered before, which really is most threads in any older forum. Just try and ask in BF...Things change all the time and new answers can be given or the poster can be shown the older threads too, in addition to an answer. Abusing the negative smileys will kill the fun.

I think the negative smilies will add to the overall camaraderie that ensues in a forum such as this.  We all know the facepalm applies to several pics, such as the shower pic, Bob's mannequin pic, or a whole slew of pink kayak pics.  And lets not forget the multiple "my multi bit me" pics that we all post.  No, if they are used in the proper context then no one should be offended by them.

I don't think you can find any posts from the staff here being negative or handing out warnings for bringing up older questions or for not using the search feature as seen on other forums..  ::)
I'm sure the new smilies will add yet another dimension to the fun around here...  :hatsoff:  ;)

I would rather avoid any smileys that change the friendly and accepting nature of the forum.
