US Army MP600
on: December 11, 2011, 07:00:06 PM
I got this from Accujohn a while ago, can't believe I ever posted it! This BO MP600 is what the US Army issues its' troops. I showed it to a buddy who had done a tour in Iraq, and he immediately wanted to trade for his old one he'd brought home. Needless to say, this on is in better shape than his.....It looked like he'd tried to smuggle as sand dune home in his! :)

This one has hardly been used, just a tiny bit of storage wear really. For the past month, this has been in my bag as backup to my EDC, but I haven't had to go to it yet. I love these slide head Gerbers.....
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

Its a cool one... I think i posted that this in was in Iraq but came home virtually unused. The guy said he used a cheaper issue leatherman instead. This one stayed in his trunk

I purchased a used Otis Technologies military issue weapon cleaning kit on Ebay. It came with the BO MT600. It's now my truck multi-tool.

The MP series are good, functional tools. Above average? Probably not. Would I feel prepared if I carried one in my pack everyday? Absolutely!

I have a MP600 DET that I got for cheap on another forum and it's been used here and there around the house (put a bed frame together, removed some burrs with the files, cut down cardboard). It now sits in in my firearm cleaning supplies box. I don't know how many times I've taken it out and thought to myself "man, if I had tooling/machining knowledge, along with a background in mechanical engineering, I could improve this, this, this, this....."
