What is wrong with convertion Grant? 5Euro is more than 4.45 dollars.

Are you being robbed by Paypal?

EDIT: appears corrected now
both, I had to manually add the converted rate after the paypal fee was deducted and then converted to USD.

Have you got to manually convert every donation that isn't paid in USD?
If I make a payment from UK in JPY do you get a real bad headache?  >:D

I did try to pay the fees too, but that option wasn't there

Look along the top where it says Home, Help, Search and so on- Donations is right before Logout.

I believe that's the case at the moment.  Whoey can't answer as I believe he's working on it.

If you are going to throw coins, make certain you don't roll them first as they hurt!  :D

Do you remember those little spring guns that use to shoot the plastic disks? They use to really sting, although they have forced the manufacturers to switch to foam projectiles (bunch of smurfies), what fun is a war game without some good welts?

Anyway, they really left a good bruise when you loaded a nickle in one >:D
Yep, got mine taken away from me when my sister told on me and showed Dad the red mark.

Wow! Looks like the donation thing is gonna work pretty well! Does this mean we should no longer be buying the Charter Member packages from Travis? Or is this a totally different fund?

well I don't have to manually convert, paypal does do that, but we do have to accept the payment in paypal before it will change the currency... thus we manually have to complete the donation for it to appear on the forum tracking... minor learning curve.

Charter is separate.

What he said... again.  Charter Membership is different, at least for the moment.  We may try to work them together, but for the moment we are trying to figure out how it all works.  Once we know that we can decide how best to use it.

Perhaps adding a Charter Membership button on the donation page?

PayPal Subscriptions and Recurring Payments

I believe we had this setup before, but something broke when we upgraded, and we didn't realize until recently... so check out "Profile" Actions > Paid subscriptions for Charter Membership (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php?action=profile;area=subscriptions;)

That is cool :tu:

How hard would it be to add a second subscription button with a caption like:

"Or $3.00 per month, recurring payment, renewed automatically each year"

well, considering they're different modules for the forum, not easy :P

we're looking at the charter membership stuff too, it has the possibility to do recurring fees/payments.

The question in my mind would be, what prevents someone from signing up for a single month, getting the package & benefits, then denying any further payments?

I think the monthly fee would need to be a lot higher to cover paypal fees. Perhaps quarterly is a better idea. Anyways, we're discussing... more change soon  :o

Sadly these things have to occur to us, along with the possibility of chasing guys down each month for payments, and how much of a monthly payment would actually go to the forum and how much would get eaten by Paypal.  At this point we would have to look at a $5 minimum monthly payment for Charter Memberships, which would make it $60/year for monthly subscribers, or twice what annual subscribers are paying, and we just don't think that's fair.  So, we are looking at different possibilities, including a quarterly donation, which would still be more than an annual payment, but less than monthly.

There's a lot more to this stuff than just adding another button!  :D

I won't mind if the donation button was made a little more prominent... at least we know that when we donate, it benefits the site directly (compared to ads). Just a simple shading, shadow or background colour (something like the "Reply" button?) might help members who haven't notice the new donation button, or even non-members to who learnt something from here and just wants to send a little money to thank the forum for the info.

The ad on top is fine for me... as long as there's no quick flashing colours - you know those flashing banners are so irritating that my mind/eye is already 'trained' to auto skip/ignore them whenever I come across any, defeating the purpose of it. My opinion is more text for ads on top, some colours for ads on bottom of page is fine. Less colour ads on top also give the initial impression that you have less ads when the page is loaded.

Just my opinion.
You have the right tool... but do you know how to use it the right way?

Well since your opinion pretty well coincides with our own I would imagine you will be more or less pleased with the results.
