Spyderco Blue G-10 Native
on: January 08, 2012, 04:31:36 PM
While fiddling about with different backdrops I took a number of new pictures I thought I'd share.  First off is my rare Spyderco Blue Native!

This is a beautiful little knife and perhaps the finest knife I've ever owned in terms of construction.  The action on this blade is so smooth you can open or close it just by pressing in the lock bar!

I also really like the broad blade shape and so I'd purchased a regular Native for EDC some years ago.  I was so disappointed with it compared to this one that I traded it away shortly after I got it.  This one however, isn't going anywhere any time soon!

I hope you like it too!

The blue G10 is . I've had a native and I personally didn't like it at all.

How did I know you'd be the first one to respond to these threads?  :D

I like the broad blade of the Native, but the one I had with the FRN handle was awful.  Maybe it was this one that spoiled me, but I think the FRN one was perhaps the worst Spydie I've ever owned.  Every now and then I toy with the idea of trying another one, but then I also toy with the idea of putting this one into EDC rotation too!

what was it specifically about the FRN native that you didn't like? The G10 certainly looks  :drool:er

I think the pivot was riveted too tightly as the knife was a real pain to open.  I am certain it was a defective one, but it bugged me to the point I didn't bother to get another.  I have had my share of Spydies in the past and none of them were as bad as that one, but then I probably didn't scrutinize it as much as I did with the others as I was so impressed with the Blue Native, and was expecting more from the FRN one.  I didn't expect it to be as good as the Blue Native, but I did expect it to be at least on par with other FRN Spydies I have owned, and it wasn't.  It was maybe 15% worse than a regular Spyderco knife, which would have been noticeable but not a big deal for a user, but it was about 85% worse than what I was comparing it to, if that makes any sense.

The tactical mall ninja in Grant is again yearning for fresh air.  :pok: :P

More than you know- since I stopped working at the bar I have a lot of competitive energy that I am not using, and it is very frustrating to me!  :D

Those blue G-10 Natives are worth a small fortune these days.

I would imagine they are.  I think the last time I checked into it's value I was offered about $300 for it.  That was a few years ago though.  I have no idea what it would be worth today.

I've Been After One Of Those. I'd Also Like To Have The Purple One, And The Pink One And The Native 4.

As with anything in life, make me an offer. If it's acceptable to me, you are one step closer to fulfilling your goal. If not, at least you know you took your best shot.

I'm not suggesting anything specific, just saying that if you or anyone else is ever interested in something you have a better chance of getting it if you PM the current owner with some kind of offer than if you don't.  More of a life lesson than an invitation really.  :D

I'd say that would value at $400 or so. I agree with your idea on life lessons. You never know if you don't try. :tu:
