If SOG can still sell the PPP like it is then the sideclip would have no issues.  The only detractors I see are the three flatheads and the uncomfortable handles(though they are much easier on the hands than the PST).

I don't think SOG is moving that many PPP's these days though- perhaps if they put a clip on it, it might be a different story!  :D

As said earlier I EDC the "old" Sideclip and the handles have never felt uncomfortable to use. :)  If I want to change brakes on my car I just choose another tool.. ;)

I remember seeing these on the shelf when they hit the shops here and thinking "all that money and you get less tools and no leather sheath?  No thanks!".  I really should try one of these at some point. :D

You really should!  Fantastic tool and it's fun to fiddle with.

Really?  They do seem quite rare on Ebay nowadays.  I prefer the pt510 for the obvious reason.

I don't find the handles too uncomfortable unless I'm really torquing them, in which case you are right, I really should choose another tool.  Problem is I usually only have the one MT on me so what is there gets the use.

Funny you mention it Dave, I was just looking at my Sideclip from that haul and noticed that the handles are stamped with four different months: 0698-0798-0898-0998. how cool is that..  8) 8)

It's even cooler that they are all consecutive- 0698, 0798, 0898, 0998!  :D

While I hate to see the SideClip regulated to the dust pile of history. I`m not sure it could compete with some of the newer tools in today market. Back when it came out I remeber thinking why do I need a pocket clipped MT. I already had a knife clipped in my pocket. I was still stuck in a mind set that a MT belonged on your belt. I took me time to adjust to the idea of the pocket clip on a MT. By then the SideClip had been disco`d. I guess the SideClip was a head of its time for me any way. Maybe it would fare better today.    :)

I do like to see people still carrying and using the older discontinued tools - not just because they're different, but because they're still good tools. A lot of my more frequently used/carried items were already discontinued when I got them, and they serve/suit me better than what's on the shelves today.

I just keep having nightmares of you rolling around naked in the pile!   :ahhh

To this day I still handle mine with rubber gloves!

The Sideclip...yes...one of my favorite Leatherman designs. I did wear it for a month one summer, and quite enjoyed it.

Here are some old photographs to show the difference between the bead blasted and shinny finished Sideclips.
