Pocket MT screwdrivers?
on: January 16, 2012, 07:52:04 PM
Just thinking in another thread about how much I prefer the Micra's screwdrivers to the ones found on the Squirt's, but it got me thinking about just how often I actually use the drivers on my keyring MT's.

Some very specific ones I do find useful; Micra's mini-driver is great for glasses and the Phillips driver on Vic's 58mm combo tool is great for battery compartments, but day-to-day I tend to have something bigger and tougher on me so my keyring doesn't get much of a look-in.  Not unless I'm very deliberately putting the tool to the test that is.

So what about you chaps?  Any of you regularly use your keyring sized screwdrivers?

Regularly?  Nope, but the Rambler's Phillips has been crucial on numerous times when I was working on a computer.  With that said, once in a while I do find myself using the small flathead, but only when I don't have a larger knife or tool on me with an appropriately sized screwdriver.

I've had the Rambler for several months on my car key, and for months before that it was the Midnight Manager. And in all those months ( maybe even a year) I can't remember using either of the screwdrivers. As you said, I always had something bigger on me. It will stay on the key though. Just in case :D

I use the tip of the file on my Executive or the philips driver on my Rambler fairly regularly, mainly to put fresh Eneloops or Duraloops in toys for my kids.  I prefer the Rambler for that, but pocket carry my Executive more often than the Rambler; both get regular use for it though.  I also find them handy for occasionally adjusting the stop-screws on the derailleurs of my bike, and so on.  I also use the eyeglass screwdriver that rides in the corkscrew on my Swiss Champ or my Work Champ every few weeks as well.

In short, yes; after scissors and a blade, it's the tool I use most frequently.

I use the Micra philps one for small repairs when cycling.
I use the flat one for extracting batteries!

I use the Philips and slotted drivers on my Rally quite regularly. I miss the tiny slotted from my S4 , it's a shame the Es4 doesn't have one.
Fan of the Leatherman mini-bit driver and the Vic backspring philips.
