Yes, I PM'd  him.  That pictures serves no purpose in his auction and is just a blatant rip off...

At least superimpose multitool.org on it or something. Nobody is averse to a bit of free advertizing. That is just sad though.

Grant,

There is a link "Report item" just below the now 4 sold.  I suggest that you report the use of your picture ASAP.  The use of unauthorized material is prohibited on ebay.

I know a thing or 2 about that since I bought this...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/170761798572?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Of course I did not recognize the picture until a couple of days after I won the auction.  Today a brand new $ 40 Blacktip arrived by mail...I was not happy.

He sold one more then the auction closed.  I guess he didn't want to pay me a commission after all!

In case anyone is wondering, that was a photo Bob took at the 2008 SHOT Show.

It is a SOG Blacktip model. The picture shown in the auction (my picture) shows a very rare variation with replaceable carbide wire cutters. Sounds like the one Bruce actually received though was the standard non-inserted variation. >:(

Yes it was the standard Blacktip without replaceable inserts that arrived yesterday.  The current Blacktip has carbide inserts silver soldered into the pliers.  I filed a complaint with ebay as soon as I saw Bob's picture of course that was after I won and paid for the auction.  It is a big ebay no-no to use a picture to mislead people and to use a picture without authorization is also not good.

The seller realized that he did wrong and did not know if the tool had inserts or not but he thought his dad bought the tool from West Marine about 6 months ago.  He begged me not to leave negative feedback but leaving Negative feedback and filing a resolution case are the only means I have to rectify the situation.  The seller did offer me $ 7.00 if I would keep the tool but I can buy the new ones for about $39.95 3 miles from my house at West Marine.  So I was not going to over pay and not get what I wanted.  The seller offered to refund my money after he received the returned tool.  But he seemed to think that I should pay the shipping!  He came around after he got the negative feedback and the resolution case.  He paid me for return shipping and after I get the refunded money I said he could send me a request to modify the feedback.  So I will be getting all my money back.

Damn straight Bruce.  Negative feedback should be left in a scenario like this.  The best I would give him is neutral and only if he follows through with what he said he would do.  Ebay honesty is a thing of the past and it bugs me to no end!

Good on you for sticking it to him.  He should know what he is selling.  I'm not really offended by using images not created by you, because it's impossible to keep it from happening, but using one to hike up your sale price is not ok.
