After handling a CRKT folding Razel and a Ringed Razel I really wanted one. My problem was one many of us have of already owning knives no longer seeing use and money being very tight.

I really dug those Razels and started thinking about the knives I have laying around at home. So I got my CRKT M21-14 out and cut off about 0.5" off the blade. I cut angled back from edge to spine to mimick a Razel. I then slowly ground down the chisel edge to get it thinned down a little. Lastly, I put a slight edge on the chisel and sharpened the main edge. Believe it or not I'm happy as hell because it works great! I've already used it to remove some h/d staples, a few stickers, scraped some old glue off a window, hammer a few panel nails, and cut some Lithuanian Rye bread for lunch.

It's a lot handier than I thought it would be!

I actually cut a few more things today and not once did the knife fail to do what I wanted. So if you ever thought of getting a Razel I wholeheartedly tell you to
go get one! Or, do what I did and revive one of those knives laying in your desk drawer by making your own Razel. I think you'll be surprised all the utility it affords.

PS, when I get cells for my camera pics will be forthcoming.
