Yes, the orange would be much safer -  But the black is sexier by far.
And I´m not sure if my comment came across wrong (as i am no native speaker) I did not want to sound disrespectful. I just found that - although Alox feels nicely in the hand - I am regularly going back to my old 2 layer Cellidors after a short time. Don´t know why, but financially i guiess that´s a good thing. :-)

More luscious orange with BO tools today.  I'm not tired of the black/orange look yet, I still think it looks sweet.

How are the pocket clips working out?

They're on there good.  I figured out the trick to tapping.  Also these smaller clips seem to have a tight tolerance in the holes vs 2-56 thread, so there is no wiggle.

I'm putting together a 4 layer 84mm Ti build this weekend and I kept forgetting to take some video of the carbidizing process.  It's not super exciting to watch, but I wanted to show the process anyhow.

Cheers

Awesome attention to detail!  There is no doubt that your Ti-Vic conversions are the finest in the world.

Beautiful work Syph007.

I would like to mod my alox pioneer, but have a couple of questions.

Do the can opener and inline philips (older style) from a 91mm would work to do a 3.5 layers conversion?

What else would be required to do it?

Thanks in advance.

No the older (longer) phillips is too long to fit.  The newer shorter one is needed, and then it JUST barely fits.

To do the 3 tool layer mod, you need one extra opener layer spring, and the new style phillips and 2x 0.030 inch thick washers.

Building back scale to front scale (that's the order I put knives together), the first opener layer spring goes in backwards, and the bottle opener goes in that layer, then the next spring goes in as normal with the can opener on that spring.  The phillips goes on the other end and uses both springs with washer on either side.

It works out nicely since the phillips head gets the extra space so it wont hit the scales.

I hope that makes sense. :D

This one Ive been working on here and there for a few weeks now, but it's finally all done.  This started off as a regular silver cadet with saw layer, and I have fully converted it to Ti and added the scissors layer.  All Ti parts were hand cut and finished and they took alot of effort to get just right.

I guess this would close to a Ti 84mm huntsman in tool layout.

Yep 91s.  I only have 1 set of 84s and I use those as templates to cut down the 91s.

And now for something a little different.  I wanted to try a color of cerakote that was something impossible to do by anodizing aluminum... bright white!  Why? Because I figured it would look sweet with black oxide tools and be something a little different.

So... here we go.  This is what I like to think Darth Vader would have provided to all the troops.... So I present the Stormtrooper standard issue.. :D

It's hard to photograph the white nicely, so here are some more shots with a red small tinker for some color contrast.

Cheers! :D
