Another Stormtrooper SI was born this morning.  I only did 5 sets of white as a test, and now I wish I did more.  Ive had quite a few people interested in the white/black combo.  It is a pretty unique combination.

Please consider this (white cerakote on BO) a regular if possible. White is hot these days, right along with orange if not even more. I do not think people will get tired of the custom stormtrooper SAKs too soon.

Yes I agree I think what I will do in cerakote are the colors I cant do in hard anodize.  Right now I have orange/OD green/white in cerakote, and I think I'll keep those as ones I regularly stock.  And then in the hard anodize, red/blue/black, and maybe the green, not sure on that.

I havent used the OD green yet, but it's the left one in this pic.

All look very good. Just a comment that to me personally the HAIII green (OD like, yes?) looks slightly better than the cerakote OD green (thinner, more metal-ish). I also think HAIII wears better in time than cerakote - am I wrong?

Yes I think the anodize should wear better.  Ive asked the first few people Ive sold cerakote to, to let me know how it holds up, but I havent heard anything yet.

I finished off another 4.5 layer monster this morning.  I do love the look of polished parts and shiny brass, but these big ones are alot of work! :D

Cheers!

What do you call an old school electrician with no electricians blade? Hmmm the fired electrician?

This was an old cross electrician that had it electrician blade swapped for a spearpoint and got a brass liner.

I had to have a go at making one of those custom scaled cam lock mods.  So far all I got was the geometry worked out for where to place the cam, and the scales and liner roughed out from brass.

I need a thicker piece of stainless or Ti for the cam, and I havent found anything suitable yet, but Im sure something will turn up.

Not my idea, I saw this and had to have a try, but with a more standard overall profile.

Maybe you can sacrifice a blade for the cam? Width would be fitting and you could use the pivot hole and reprofile the (big, i know) rest to a cam.

Well I was picturing having the cam as wide as the whole tool layer, but really I dont think the can opener needs the locking mechanism.  So I think I will try it with just the cam over the blade spring, and a spacer on the opener layer.  I think that would work fine, and if I have any broken blades, the base from one would actually work I think for a cam.  Or a piece of spring... well I'll dig up something today and see how ti works.

I dont know if restricting the blade spring movement will make a completely solid lockup, or more of a just prevent accidentally closer type system, but I have to try to find out. :D

Once I get the mechanism working, then I can shape and polish the scales and make it look nice.

I was thinking about this.  I wonder if it would be better to have the cam the entire length.  Having the cam over just the blade may put more force on the hole in the scale next to the blade.  Since the brass scales are soft, it may deform it.  I guess it all depends on how much pressure is put on the locking cam pivot
