Well the parts for my anodizing lab are on they way.  This should be an interesting adventure.  :D

Found a power supply on ebay that seems to be appropriate.  Goes up to 10 amps and has current controlled output which is what i need.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/271532131157?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

10 amps is enough to do a dozen or more sets of scales at one time, so that is plenty.

And I got the caswell starter kit on the way.

http://www.caswellplating.com/electroplating-anodizing/anodizing-products/anodizing-kits.html

AND! I got a new contact in Toronto for PVD coatings and he does DLC.

I really really hope he can work with me and I can just send off a few hundred parts for coating.  Since Teletin screwed me over on a DLC trade deal, its been a bit of a sore spot, but it is better than BO so Id love to have that as my default black coating ( also as you can coat Ti in it ) and not have to bother with black oxide any more.  So.. I have my fingers crossed.

Orange 91mm alox scales with DLC tools...

The syph lab will be running 4 colors to start.

DYEO2B26    Orange 2B Anodizing Dye - 4oz
DYERB9    Red Bordeaux 2R Anodizing Dye - 4oz
DYEOD9    Olive Drab Anodizing Dye - 4oz
DYEB9    Blue 4A Anodizing Dye - 4oz

Just a pair of reconfigured electricians today.

Ive got another cybertool mod going together next though, as well as a dual backscale Ti mod with corkscrew and backside phillips.   :tu:

My next custom will involve a Cybertool driver so you have my attention for sure.

Just thought of something. If we didn't use the bit holder thing could the bit driver be put on a 93mm Alox custom?

Yup Im sure it could, you just wouldnt have the bits and there would be a big vacant space inside the SAK.

Hmm what could the space be used for?

Mostly want the driver for the reach it offers not so much for the bits. Of course some bits could be carried off the tool. Plus if it was built on a 93mm frame I could have the mag glass / opening layer instead of a phillips like on the custom 91mm CT I have now. No need for the phillips when you got the bit driver imo.

Or better yet mag glass and just the bottle opener for prying and beer. Could live without the ability to open cans and the small flathead comes on the phillips bit already.

Would be relatively thin for as many tools would be on it.

Robert, do you think you could make a CT bit holder out of a nicer material than plastic, e.g. brass or alumin(i)um? Titanium would be even cooler but probably impossible ;)

Or, what about a full length double layer backspring that will catch the cybertool at the end? This way it looks as if it's made just for that tool rather then plastic but you loose out on the extra bits? You'll still have the one bit, you just get stuck carrying any extras..

Yeah, I didn't think about the little nub that holds the bit in the driver when it is closed. A custom back spring with that as part of it would be sweet. I am thinking brass. Shouldn't be to hard to cut.

Ya there are a few ways that could be tackled, but for sure doable.  What I would do to fill the space is something to hold the bits but it couldnt be as complex as the plastic one.  Maybe just a brass holder with drilled holed, but magnets in bottom to retain bits.

It would be complex to reproduce that part exactly in metal, but that would be the best option.  Possible though to make something of Al or brass that could service the same function, but alot of labor to do by hand.

That technology isnt up to what I would consider as acceptable quality yet especially im metal.  My OCD couldnt take it!

Yeah it does not have to match the original just function correctly. I know if it was squared off it would be way easier to make but still work fine.

Also since it was my idea I get a discount on mine and royalties for future production right?  :pok:

Unfortunately printing in metal is a bit too expensive as well (apart from the finish being a bit meh), even though my contact only charges me for the material used.
I can ask him if it's possible to print the bit holder in ABS (orange ) :P

Thats the way to do it ya.  I dont have a CNC'd mill yet though so I outsource that right now and it would be pretty expensive.

And here is the odd duck dual backtool one I had mentioned earlier.

It kind of feels odd, and I dont think I'll be repeating it ever, but I accepted the job as a technical challenge and it was interesting.  It was much more work than I thought however, getting the phillips to work on a scissor backspring and being flipped around.

I milled slots for the standard T&T and I much prefer the metal nibbed versions I had done previously.
