Ok, I will order a piece of brass to get cut for the mag glass holder.

Its $100 for a square foot of 0.125" 464 (naval brass, it's harder than cartridge brass and would be better for this purpose) so Ive been reluctant, but im sure there are others who would like to upgrade from the plastic as well.
Awesome. Thank you!

Well this is what I get for not being organized... I already had some brass the right thickness for mag glasses.  Just 6 sq inches, but thats enough for a bunch of test pieces.  Dropping it off tomorrow for waterjet along with another big hunk of Ti for more scales.

The orders for 91mm Ti have really taken off and by far is the most requested mod now, so I need more of those.  I'll do up some wrench scales for that size as well as people have requested those.  Also I quickly ran out of the backscales with no tool cutout as the number of bladeless mods has been up alot.

I'm also about ready to pull the trigger on a tormach 440.  I need to level up my capabilities and be able to offer custom engraving.  Blowing 10k at once is scary though but if I dont do it now, I know I will regret it later on.  I can then do some precise machining like making Ti scales for 58s with the area milled out for the sliding pen mechanism, which I know will be popular.  I have 50 + of those pen things here and I could offer those milled into the 91/93 mm size as well.  :D

Now that is very interesting, particularly as someone looking for engraving and who appreciates the 58mm pen.  Not a practical purchase for one off modders, but with your volume, I could see it adding a lot of flexibility and allowing faster turn around times.

I'm excited to see what you can accomplish with this level of tooling.

Hey Monrogue...just curious....why the fishscaler?
I used to have it on a previous SAK, and once I got a Swisschamp, I realized how much I like it.  It's a great back scratcher for those just out of reach spots, which is a frequent use for me.  It's a great misc type tool overall IMO

Would it be possible to make 91mm or 93 mm Ti scales with the large pen?

Maybe but then an extra liner between the scale and tools would be needed.  I might be able to add it in the same spot as i do tweezers now but the oen is very thick and wouldnt leave much scale thickness left.

Syph - I know the 91mm opener backspring isn't too flexible, making tools swaps hard. But I don't remeber you ever talking about the blade backspring. Could small blade + combo tool or small blade + can opener fit on the blade backspring?

Hmm yes i think that would work.  Could even do bottle opener in place of large blade.

Brass mag glass holders should be ready next week.  Im having another big hunk of Ti cut up as well for 84mm and 91mm scales.  I did 2 version of scale wrenches for 91s too.  A new design that I will explain when I have them back.  It will handle both metric and imperial nuts.

Still some alox modding going on here too... :D

Ok this is definitely the thinnest alox mod Ive ever done.

Alox swiss army file.

The only challenge part here was to get a keyring on there. I milled off 0.040" in the shape of the keyring part and riveted it to the spring.

Interesting to say the least.  I am a big fan of the SAK file myself but file only .  Neat to see what your customers request.

I would think someone who uses a file a lot everyday and a SAK with just a file would be lighter and feel better in hand.

Just wonder why not just use a regular file if that's the case. Maybe portability? Showing off to his or her filing buddies?

Hey Syph - do the pocket clip screws just go in to the alox scales, and that provides a good enough bite, or is there more to it? What do you do, just pre drill a hole that's a little smaller?

Oh yes the screws hold well.  For a 2-56 thread in aluminum you drill a #51 hole and tap.  In Ti I do a larger hole since it is significantly tougher material the threads dont need to be as deep to hold, and I actually only tap half way through the scale.
